Now in its fourth year, the Cooks River Fun Run is a major event on the Strathfield Council calendar. The Fun Run course follows the Cooks River and takes in part of one of Sydney’s best cycle and walking tracks, ‘The Bay to Bay Cycle and Walkway’. With a record number of over 400 participants last year, the Cooks River Fun Run is Strathfield Council’s premier sporting and fitness event. The run helps to showcase the Cooks River whilst promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. The Running Australia certified course is 2.5km in length from Freshwater Park in Strathfield to Ford Park in Strathfield South. The course includes kilometer markers with all competitors receive a timing chip in their race number to allow race times to automatically register at the finish line and post online. This event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities with several categories from primary school children to 55 years plus. Early bird discounts are available for online registrations at www.cooksriverfunrun.com.au. Registrations are also taken at the event. A free shuttle bus service is provided to transport participants and spectators from Strathfield Station to and from Freshwater Park. There is also plenty of free on-street parking in the surrounding area.

Event format • Start and Finish line at Freshwater Park, Strathfield • Three events • 5km run • 10km run • 5km walk • Out and back course, 2.5km each way • Staggered starts for each event from 9am • Water station at turn around point • Open to all ages and abilities • Entry fees: • Online early bird - $20 per adult, $15 per child and $60 per family of 4 • Late entries/entry on the day $25 adult, $20 child and $70 per family of 4 • Categories – prizes awarded to first place and medals awarded to first, second and third place in each: •
