Activities Transferred to Panchayati Raj Institution
The Department of Fisheries has transferred following functions, functionaries and fund of the Department to the Panchayati Raj Institution for implementation of Fisheries activities in the rural areas.
FUNCTIONS
Gram Panchayat
Construction and maintenance of fish markets.
Construction and maintenance of net mending sheds.
Fish seed production and distribution.
Panchayat Samiti
Running and maintenance of Ice Plant and Cold Storage, Fish Landing Centre.
Implementation of all subsidy schemes.
Awareness programme for Fisherman and Fish Farmers.

FUNDS The funds earmarked for the functions transferred to PRIs shall be provided as grant-in-aid to the Panchayat Samities/ Gram Panchayats by the Department of Fisheries in consultation with the Finance Department of the Andaman and NIcobar Administration.
