Additions and Corrections

Vol. 32 (2004) 400 – 409 From Gene to Protein: Prostatic Acid Phosphatase: Structure and Expression of Gene and Protein Piotr Laidler, Radoslawa Kuciel, Joanna Dulinska, Dorota Gil, Aleksandra Mazurkiewicz, and Maria Wro´bel Page 405– 406: An error appeared in the citations. The sentence should read as follows:

Using Rasmol, in each of the protein subunits the students locate the amino acids that form catalytic centers (Arg11, His12, Gly13, Arg15, Arg79, Trp174, His257, Asp258 [18, 25]) and find the relation between the proposed mechanism of catalysis (Fig. 5) [18], action of the inhibitor, and the three-dimensional structure of the crystallized protein [10, 11]. Page 406: An error appeared in the citation in the legend for Fig. 5: The sentence should read:

Postulated mechanism for catalysis by acid phosphatases of high molecular mass [18, 25]. Page 406: Two sentences were omitted from the legend to Fig. 6. The legend should read:

The structure of the hPAP dimer (A) and the catalytic center of enzyme (B). From a laboratory report. Prepared by the student in RASMOL program on the basis of the Protein Data Bank. Page 408: An error appeared in the citation in point 6 of TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION WITH STUDENTS. The sentence should read:

Competition of substrate and inhibitor [11, 18, 31–35].
