JUAN PABLO CASTAÑEDA SÁNCHEZ, MSc. Researcher at IARNA and Advisor of the environmental accounts URL-BANGUAT Professional profile and experience He is a researcher at the Institute of Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment (IARNA for its Spanish acronym) from Rafael Landívar University. His areas of interest are topics related to development, economics and the environment. He is particularly interested in examining the linkages between the economy and the environment, both at national and regional levels (i.e. Guatemala and the Central American region). Most of his work is based on the use of analytical and accounting frameworks, input-output analysis, material flow accounting and sustainability hybrid indicators. Recently he got involved in research initiatives related to experimental economics and game theory to study the behavior of individuals and communities in their relation to environmental public goods. He is a PhD candidate at Tilburg University in the Netherlands and has an MSc in Ecological Economics from The University of Edinburgh, with studies in MA Project Appraisal from Universidad Mariano Galvez and BS in Architecture from Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala. His more recent publications are related to environmental accounting and experimental economics. He has taught at different national universities and given lectures in UK, Netherlands, Germany, USA, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil, Belize and Guatemala.
