Yes, we have provided in the past classes in English, Communication and programming. This year we are planning to hold preparatory classes / bridge courses in Programming, Maths, Electrical Science etc. for B. Tech. Yr I students. No. However Financial assistance and scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit.

Through University Website, Advertisements, Career Counseling sessions & Workshops, NU’s Toll Free and Helpline No., Also Admission office takes care of all queries of prospective students. Also University provides facility to prospective student for overnight stay at campus to feel the campus life. University also arranges for frequent trip from Delhi to University campus by University provided bus to prospective students and prospective parents for Campus visit. 5. Curriculum, Teaching Learning Process/Method, Examination/Evaluation System 5.1

The Course Architecture and curriculum is designed by Concerned Area Director & the Faculty members of that Area, which is then presented before and discussed with the Programme Committee (Board of Studies) which is than taken to Academic Council for Approval and which is reported to Board of Management of the University.

Revision, changes and updation to the curriculum are initiated and suggested by the concerned Course In- charge on Annual Basis. Concerned Course In-Charge and / or Faculty members of that Area including Area Director may present the proposal for changes/ revision in their Area through Sub – Area Academic Monitoring Committee which in turn proposes the changes to the Programme Committee (Board of Studies) which on recommendation of the Programme Committee (Board of Studies) is taken for consideration of the Academic Council. Finally the decision of the Academic Council is ratified by Board of Management. Details provided in Annexure D. Yes, approval of University statutory bodies – Academic Council & Board of Management has been taken to start various Courses. Extracts of the Minutes of the Board of Management and Academic Council Meeting are Attached at Annexure N (e).

University has Research Advisory Board, Industry Advisory Board and Board of Advisors who advises and suggests various measures to strengthen the best of academic ambience and academic administration, research orientation so that NIIT University can develop into hub of innovations. For details about Board of Advisors, Research Advisory Board and Industry advisory Board see Annexure O (d-f). University follows a modular, credit – based approach to curriculum with course wise promotion. University has adopted interdisciplinary area at M. Tech. level, such as Bio-Informatics, Educational Technology, Geographic Information System, etc. Further, the B. Tech. curriculum is broad-based requiring students to do courses in the areas of Pure & Applied Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences. University emphasizes innovative teaching-learning pedagogy and innovative examination system like use of Audio – visual aids during classes and examination depending on the requirements of the course. Innovative Projects are devised and project presentations of students are also webcasted. Interactive method supplemented with discussions is followed for teaching – learning processes. Participation by students is heavily emphasized during the classes. Online discussion forums are also used as teaching tool. Mobile Learning as teaching - learning aid is used in few courses. All classroom has LCD projection facility for usage by Faculty. Classrooms are equipped with Smart Boards. Usage of Mimio Studio Tools is emphasized by the University. Document Camera is used by the Faculty for displaying books, Newspaper article, Reading Material etc during the classes for familiarizing and updating 8

students with day to day events. University provides facility to the Faculty to video/audio record their lectures and to use the same as pod cast/webcast and same is also uploaded on NUcleus (Moodle base Learning Management System Software). All the study material and supplementary reading material is uploaded on NUcleus. In majority of the courses emphasis is given for taking students submission through NUcleus. Case study method is used in Management studies and Humanities. Learning management through Management Games is the regular feature of the management courses. Other than classroom teaching, sessions on Business update is a regular feature for Management programme. MBA students are associated to interact and learn from external mentor who is the CEO of Industry/ Corporates. International Immersion/ National Immersion facility is available to MBA students. Industry Practice is part and parcel of undergraduate programme. Summer Internship and Research Projects are also offered during vacation period. University also has facility for Synchronised Learning system (SLT) and Adobe for organizing Lectures of off campus International Faculty/ Members from Industry/ Corporates / Academia.

NIIT University emphasizes on interdisciplinary approach hence as per programme architecture and design, all students of B. Tech. are given six courses in Humanities and Social Sciences along with courses in pure sciences. Management students also have courses in Humanities, Social Sciences as well as in Law. Also NU has provision of open elective in which Student can elect for cross & trans disciplinary courses. University also has Independent Reading Courses. Yes, Academic Audit is conducted on quarterly basis by externally appointed Auditors from Ghosh Khanna & Co, New Delhi to monitor University Academic Administration Compliances. Apart from Classroom instructions students are required to do Projects / Summer Internship / Industry Practice. Students are also encouraged to attend Conference and Seminars. They are also encouraged and given financial support to participate in Inter University / College Sports & Cultural Fests. MBA students are provided facility for International / National Immersion programme. Research Based learning is given heavy impetus in all the courses through project work. Research based Summer projects are in great demand by students at the University. Distinguished Professor Lecture Series, Founding Professor Lecture Series along with talk by eminent Personalities from Academia, Corporate, Industry is the regular feature of the University and is ample resource of knowledge for students. Details of the Distinguished Lecture Series is given in Annexure Q.

Trainings sessions like training through Rational Rose is part of B. Tech. Curriculum. Industry Practice is part and parcel of undergraduate programme. UG Students on weekly basis teach Government School students under Community Connect Each One (NU B. Tech. Student) Teach One (Government School Student) programme. University has adopted five Government schools at Neemrana under Community Connect Each One Teach One Programme. Under NIIT University Rural Connect Initiative, University has adopted Soda Village, Tonk to contribute to educative

empowerment and technology education at Soda Village through Student & Faculty Led Initiative and also to participate with Panchayat in research based village development Projects. University has also launched Nanhi Chhaan programme in association with Nanhi Chaan Foundation, Gurgaon where in NU Girl students has taken responsibility as elder sister by adopting younger sister (Government School Girl Student) .

There are various student led functional committees which give ample opportunity to students to groom leadership skills and personality. The University first national level Techno-Cultural Fest was organized by students on Feb 1-3 2013. University emphasizes application/ practical based Examination system. University has continuous internal evaluation system. Each Course has different evaluation components like – Assignments, test, Quizzes, Project Work, Seminar Presentation, Practical’s, Case Analysis etc in addition to mid and comprehensive written examinations. Continuous evaluation is done by internal Faculty Members. Answer scripts are shown to students after evaluation. University has option of online system of conducting and doing evaluation through NUcleus (Moodle based Learning Management System) for conducting online quizzes, Assignments, MCQ test and descriptive test in addition to conventional examination system. Year wise malpractices cases reported are given below: 2009 – 2010 – NIL 2010 – 2011 – 01 2011 – 2012 – 11 Details given in Annexure E Yes, University follows continuous internal evaluation system.

Question paper is prepared by the concerned Course In-charge depending on evaluation component keeping in view the course curriculum to ensure achievement of the course objectives. Question paper is subsequently discussed in Sub – Area Academic Monitoring Committee (SAAM) for further improvement, if any. 10

How regular and time-bound are conduct of examinations and announcement of results? Substantiate with details of dates of examinations and announcement of results for the last 3 years. Details to be provided in the following format:-

Question papers are set by the Course In- Charge. Dean Academic Affairs is responsible for the conduct of examination. She is assisted by Deputy Registrar – Academic who is entrusted the work of proper conduct of examination. All Faculty Members of the University are Invigilators. Conduct of Examination and announcement of Results are time bound. Students are handed over their evaluated Mid Examination Answer sheets along with announcement of Mid Grades. Students are also given the opportunity to verify their evaluated comprehensive examination sheets and the score on total 100 marks. Details given in Annexure F. To bring further strict compliances with reference to result announcement on due date, the University has started Academic ERP Software with which submission of attendance and results are to be done through ERP software which does not accept the delayed result after due date. Further to submit delayed results Course Incharge has to take special approval with justification from Dean Academic Affairs for submitting delayed results.

Prevailing fee structure for comparative programmes in other institutions In accordance with the above considerations, a differential fee structure was arrived at for MBA, B Tech and M Tech. 7.12

Yes. In order to encourage and support meritorious candidates, NU has implemented a very distinctive NU Scholar Search Programme. Under NU Scholar Search Programme - scholarships are provided on Merit Basis as per Scholarship Plan A+, A, B C at the time of admission. For 2009 – 2012 Batch scholarship has been given to 15% of enrolled students as per following details: For further details see Annexure І Stipends: Resident Ph. D. Scholars get a stipend of Rs. 20,000/- pm from NIIT University. MBA (F & B) Students gets a stipend of Rs. 10,000/- pm and Rs. 50,000/- pm during Internship from ICICI Bank.

University has allocated Research Funds for promoting and developing Research Orientation in the Faculty members. University has taken various steps to promote research in all the Departments: University has Research Advisory Board (RAB) which is constituted by well known researchers and academics from across the world. RAB is chaired by Dr. P. Anandan, Director, Microsoft Research India. The aim of the Board is to help NU live the “research-driven” principle, which remains one of the four core tenets of the University. Details of RAB is given in Annexure O (d).

D. programme. ** University provides financial support to its Faculty members for presenting paper in one International Conference and two National conferences every year. University is also continuing its research on sustainability, green initiatives and Community Development and has taken various initiatives in this direction.

Strong Community Connect Programmes University believes in bringing in change in the lives of people through its presence hence various Community welfare related programmes and Initiatives are run by the University like Go Green Initiative Campaign, Community Connect Each One Teach One Programme, Rural Connect Initiatives , Raath Mahotsava etc for the welfare of the Community members in the vicinity of the University. As on date, University has adopted five Government school under Community Connect Each One Teach One Programme. University has adopted Soda Village, Tonk under NU’s Rural connect Initiatives. Sustainability The campus master-planning and architecture have enshrined technologies and features that robustly support ‘Sustainability’. University believes in sustainable approach and hence has adopted very effective and functional system for day light harvesting, rain water harvesting, drip irrigation system and Solar system project in the Campus. The campus recycles 97% of water and has energy-efficiency which puts us in Near Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB). University use Evaporative Cooling & not Air Conditioning and do day-light harvesting by light-shafts, light-shelves and sky-lights. Roof-water and run-off water are harvested ground-water is recharged. Post STP -treatment water is recycled. NIIT University promotes water conservation amongst the resident population, by treatment and reuse of waste water. The environmental management plan for the University also includes prohibiting illegal extraction and mining of stone from the hill, and constructing more check dams to harvest rainwater and further, preventing soil erosion. Buildings have been built with high percentage of recycled materials. Energy consumed per unit area of the buildings is considerably less than ‘Platinum-rated’ buildings equipped with Building Management System to help optimize energy efficiency.

University has taken all care to maintain best of the aesthetics without disturbing the nature. All tress coming in the constructions areas has been uprooted and re-planted to re-store its roots. University has adopted Kali Pahari. Neemrana to convert it into Green Pahari. All AT NIIT University participate actively in planting trees at Kali Pahadi under ‘Sharam Daan Initiative’. About 25000 saplings have been planted in Government land to lead ecological resurrection. University has its own nursery where saplings are made from the seeds. Plants are donated on 32

regular basis to Government Schools and nearby community members.

EAT (Earth Air Tunnel) University has the largest experimentation in Earth Air Tunnel System (EAT) for comfort cooling saving environment from polluting effluents. The two Academic and the two PG hostel buildings are serviced for human comfort by Earth Air Tunnels (EAT). This technology taps the intrinsic potential of earth by creating geothermal-coupling. These installations contribute to cooling in summer and heating in winter without consuming energy.

Facilities on Campus All Basic Facilities – classroom, Lab, Hostels, playgrounds etc are available on Campus. For ensuring safety and security, University has Access Controlled Entry. CC cameras are installed in public areas throughout the campus. University has Human Guards as well at main entrance for ensuring tight security. Library facilitates purchase of text-books for students on the basis of individual requests. Library can be browsed on the intranet from anywhere in the Campus. In order to avail the maximum utilization of the library resources, online public access catalogue (OPAC) is available on the intranet. University has Medical Room which is opened from 8.00 am – 11.00pm with the services of Compounder, Nurse and an Attendant. Doctor visits for two hours everyday. Basic medicines are distributed free of cost at University Medical Room. University has made tie –up with Kailash Hospital for providing medical facilities to staff and students discounted rate of 20% on test and consultancy fee. University also facilitates hospitalization support in Gurgaon and Jaipur in case of anyurgency. University also provides for Students Medical Checkup facility annually. University also provides for Students Insurance facility. University has Counselor Room and students can avail counseling facility on daily basis. University arranged Bicycles are provided to ply within the campus. University has on campus ATM facility. University has E-Reception Kiosk as well. RO filtered water facility is available 24 hours at Academic Buildings and Hostels. Hostel is well furnished with single and twin sharing accommodation which is earth air cooled. Hostels have laundry facility and free of charge house-keeping services for the room. There are two suitably furnished common-rooms on each floor. Each common room is equipped with an LCD TV. One case-study room on each floor equipped with whiteboard, Internet connection, 33

and access to the University’s Online Library and Learning Systems. On each floor there is one pantry with a microwave oven. 24X7 hot water and cold water facility is provided in Hostels. University ensures healthy and hygienic dinning facility. Sports facilities in the campus include volleyball, basketball, cricket, football, tennis, badminton, gymnasium, table tennis and a golf driving range. University offers on regular basis trekking, nature trails and adventure sports activities. Facilities to support vibrant social and recreational activities such as Yoga Center, Forest Walk, Music Room, Dance Center, Craft Center and Art Center. Ambience University has very transparent and accountable system. The officers of the University are available for Students 24X7. University provides freedom oriented safe environment to students for learning and developing their personality holistically. Students can freely interact with the faculty and officials of the University. Resident Wardens on each Floor ensures proper discipline and decorum amongst residents. University premises and facility rooms are very clean and hygienic. Student Academic Support The review of academic performance of all students is done at the conclusion of every semester and the Student’s whose CGPA is less than or close to the minimum stipulated as required by the Academic Regulations of the University are brought under the purview of the Academic Counseling Committee (ACC) with the objective of enabling such students to recover at the earliest. The attendance & performance of such students is monitored by the Committee on regular basis. The performance of each undergraduate students is shared with parents through mid - performance letters. The performance of all undergraduate students starting from Admission Interview process is recorded and archived and the proceedings are also recorded during students Annual Feedback and appraisal review Interaction processes annually. Each student is assigned a Mentor for sharing his issues and for taking guidance relating to any aspect of life.

Student Counsellor University has student Counsellor who counsels students for improving psychologically, academically and professionally. Regular Feedback System Feedback for each taught course is taken twice from students i.e. University has provision of 34

Mid Feedback system and End Feedback system. Strong Archiving System All distinguished Lectures are recorded and webcasted and are stored in Archives. Faculty can also audio & video record their lectures in AV studio. Nucleus (Moodle based learning management system) keeps all the teaching learning resources of the course/s archived for all the programmes. The proceeding of Disciplinary Committee and Unfair means Committee Interactions with the students are recorded and archived. Holistic & Balanced Education University believes in holistic development of Students hence adequate curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular activities are part and parcel of Life on Campus (LOC) which is also defined as Line of control for inculcating disciplined habits and behaviour in students while at Campus.

Recognitions & Awards NIIT University has been awarded Best Institute /University in Use of Technology in TeachingLearning Practices - 2013 under Excellence Awards by ASSOCHAM.

NIIT University has been awarded Green campus Award in 2012 in India Today Aspire Education Summit 2012.

University has adopted IIT level salary scale and believes in adopting best practice approach for incentivizing Faculty for research and teaching learning processes along with providing the most updated teaching learning aids and tools and technologically oriented enviornment. University has very strong ecologically sensitizing programmes and education empowerments and technology empowerments related Community welfare and development programmes under audit courses.
