APICS Education Why APICS Certification? APICS' internationally recognized certification programs, Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), are known globally as standards of competence in business, manufacturing and supply chain. Individuals who've attained CPIM and CSCP credentials possess enhanced skills and upward mobility in their careers.

What are CPIM and CSCP? APICS developed two certifications to provide both depth (CPIM) and breadth (CSCP) in the APICS body of knowledge. By passing standardized exams, individuals earn the right to use the CPIM or CSCP designation. The CPIM and CSCP programs each consist of five exam modules for which you can prepare with a number of APICS study materials, text and multimedia references, and instructor-led courses and workshops. Why Attend Workshops? Attending a workshop is not required, but it is very helpful. All chapters offer certification workshops. The North Shore Chapter will tailor APICS standarized education to your corporate needs with in-house workshops. If you do not see a class scheduled that you want to attend, or if you want to hold an inhouse class at your company, please contact Ed Austin at: [email protected]. Certificates of Completion are awarded to each student at the last class. (Attendance is crucial in obtaining a certificate.) Certificates of Completion provide students with recognition for their efforts to increase knowledge and expertise in the APICS Body of Knowledge. Who should attend? Project Managers, Production Managers and Supervisors, Team Leaders, Purchasing Managers, Buyers, Supply Chain Managers, Materials Managers, Inventory Planners, Expediters, and anyone seeking a thorough understanding of the integrated supply chain; individuals who want to improve their skills through formal training and those who want to prepare for the APICS national examinations. Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) Courses The APICS CPIM program provides you with the ability to understand and evaluate production and inventory activities within a company's global operations. APICS CPIM education is essential if you are involved in: production and inventory management, operations, supply chain management, procurement or materials management. More than 97,000 professionals since 1973 have earned the APICS CPIM designation. To achieve certification, you must pass all of the following five exams: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) Master Planning of Resources (MPR) Detailed Scheduling and Planning (DSP) Execution and Control of Operations (ECO) Strategic Management of Resources (SMR)

Prospective students who are beginning the certification process are strongly encouraged to begin with BSCM. The recommended sequence for the next three is: MPR, DSP and ECO but these can be taken in any order. SMR is considered a capstone course and should be taken last. While achieving the CPIM designation is a big undertaking, APICS also provides exam tools and tips to students preparing for each of the exams, such as: an on-line review course; a webinar; test-taking tips and certification study tips that were created by surveying exam participants; pass rates and exam references.

The APICS CPIM designation will help you: Increase your functional knowledge of production and inventory management Maximize ROI on the systems and technologies within your organization Master the tools you need to effectively manage global supply chain activities Gain knowledge to apply principles to ERP software to cover various critical functions within your organization Earn customer satisfaction by delivering Lean/Just-in-Time products and services Enhance your credibility within your organization Create consistency and foster collaboration through best practices, common terminology, and corporate-wide communication. Certification in Supply Chain Management (CSCP) Courses The Certified Supply Chain Professional TM (CSCP) program is designed to meet the rapidly changing needs of the supply chain management field. The CSCP program consists of a 10-session evening course that provides students with a solid understanding of the latest supply chain mnagement techniques and prepares them for the APICS CSCP national examinations. Since its launch in 2006, more than 14,000 professionals have earned the APICS CSCP designation worldwide. APICS CSCP education is essential if you are interested in increasing your knowledge and expertise in the field of global supply chain management, specifically in the areas of customer relations, international trade, information technology enablement, and physical logistics; facilitating supply chain functions or working with ERP systems; or creating a common understanding and framework within your company to address your supply chain challenges and opportunities. From the manufacturing to the service industry, regardless of whether a company is serving business or consumer markets or is for profit or not-for-profit, the increasingly important role of supply chain management is affecting all organizations. Customers already expect good quality at low prices, and speed of delivery is becoming more important. As a result, effective supply chain management has become essential to successfully compete in today's global marketplace. The APICS CSCP designation is the most widely recognized educational program for operations and supply chain management professionals around the globe. Supply chain professionals who have earned the APICS CSCP designation earn 21% more than those without the certification report that the CSCP certification made a favorable impact in hiring decisions. The new APICS CSCP exam consists of three important modules. The 2013 exam reflects critical changes in the marketplace, roles of operations and supply chain managers. For accreditation, you must master each of the following modules in a single, comprehensive exam: 1. APICS Supply Chain Management Fundamentals 2. Supply Chain Strategy, Design, and Compliance 3. Implementation and Operations The APICS CSCP designation will help you: Positively affect lead times, inventory, productivity, and bottom-line profitability Understand how to manage the integration and coordination of activities to achieve reduced costs and increase efficiencies and customer service Gain the knowledge to effectively and efficiently manage worldwide supply chain activities Master the tools necessary to effectively manage global supply chain activities Acquire the skills you need to create consistency and foster collaboration through best practices, common terminology, and corporate communication Understand how to leverage enterprise resources planning (ERP) systems and other technologies to improve the entire supply chain process Maximize your organization's ERP investments Achieve greater professional value and peer/ industry recognition
