Newsletter for the Dolphin Motorhome Club THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

T

he year continues and spring is here. Hope you are this time of year with flowers blooming and trees greening up. Many of us are attending the INTO rally in Tucson, which is where I am writing this from. There are 301 coaches on site with 20+ from the Dolphins. I hope to say hello to all of you attending, and see more of you in Distant Drums. We will have articles and pictures from the three March outings here in Arizona. Our club numbers continue to be very good, with several new members this year plus a reinstatement of members. Don‘t forget the upcoming rallies in Pismo Beach and Pahrump. Both are a lot of fun. If you have not registered ,print the rally flyers from the website and send them in. We will be golfing at both outings. Also, we will have four first timers at Pismo Beach, which is always fun. Also if you want to host a rally pick a date and let Syd Byford know. I hate to repeat myself over and over, but we really need someone to take on the task of editor of the Splash. It would be a shame to not have our great newsletter, but without someone to take it over it will die. Richard Mathis has been doing this for a long time and he needs to pass it on. Please volunteer for this. It only takes about 8 hours per month. We can even change distribution to every other month or quarterly if necessary. While on the volunteer topic, I will soon be asking for volunteers to form a nominating committee. I am also going to propose changes to our Policies and Procedures for the committee tasks. Ray Gott did a great job last time and gave me some recommendations that I have not moved forward on, but will. So let me know if you would like to be on the committee. Also, please consider running for an office, later in the year. We are made up of volunteers. Happy and safe travels to all of you,

THE VICE-PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

L

ast month I stated that the rain and cold are coming to a close, so start your spring cleaning with your motor home and get ready to get back on the road. Anne and I did just that with a super trip with friends to River Front RV Park in Yuma Arizona for a little over a week. This is a kick back park with the basics that has a large following of snow birds, and spots for others. There is no pool or spa but is located next to a beautiful walking park between a canal and the river and is extremely quiet. Mexico is not far away and several of our friends go there for teeth cleaning, crowns, medicine, vanilla, and other items. We were advised to go shopping early with passport in hand, walk across the border, purchase our adult liquid refreshment, and walk back around 8:30 am. So being a good listener Anne and I crossed over around 8:00, went to a liquor store and were told no liquor sales throughout Mexico until 10:00. Not believing what we heard we visited other establishments and were told 10:30 and 11:00. Not to leave empty handed we purchased some items for our kids and were back in the USA by 8:45. The good news is that there was no line at immigration. By the time you read this many of you may have returned from one or more of the four great events that were scheduled in Arizona for March. The International Rally at Lazy Days in Tucson, a gourmet meal at the Elks in Gila Bend, Spring Training in Meza, and one of our favorite locations Distant Drums in Camp Verde. Unfortunately we could not fit the AZ trip into our schedule this year but know you had a good time. Please don't forget to thank your trail bosses for all of the work they did to make the event noteworthy. In April and May you have the opportunity to go to two very popular rallies. Terribles Lakeside Resort in Pahrump, NV in April, which is under new ownership, and for May and June we have Pismo Coast Village in

Pismo. Where else can you live and have such a wide selection of RV locations from the desert to the ocean. Hope to see many of you there. We continue looking for a volunteer to take over the Splash. This is your club so please consider doing our newsletter, sponsoring a rally, or think about running for office later this year. You all have great ideas so feel free to share them with your current officers. While other clubs are losing members, we continue to grow. The last I heard we are now at 135 members.

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: ―Take only ONE. God is watching.‖ Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, ―Take all you want. God is watching the apples.‖

The club can only be successful with everyone pitching in. "May your happiness of today be your sorrows of tomorrow" See you down the road. Leon VP

Note from the Editor: Sorry folks about all the fill-ins this month, but that is what happens when there are no articles from our members. Articles are usually due around the 26-28 of each month, but can be sent earlier.

This is a plumber‘s tip: squirt some liquid dish detergent down your drain. Let sit for half an hour. Flush with hot water. This will keep you drains clog-free. He said this would cut plumbing bills in half if people would just do this once a week. Cigarette Odors; If you have people smoking gin your home, light some candles to absorb those nasty odors. Soak a towel in vinegar. Wring it out and whirl it over your head all around the house to get rid of odors. Bay leaves or wrapped peppermint gum will keep bugs out of your sugar and flour. Old pantyhose makes a great scrubber for the bathtub and sink.

Why were the Indians here first? They had reservations. We‘re going on a class trip to the Coca-Cola factory. I hope there‘s no pop quiz. I didn‘t like my beard at first. Then it grew on me. Did you hear about the cross-eyed teacher who lost her job because she couldn‘t control her pupils? When you get a bladder infection urine trouble. Broken pencils are pointless. I tried to catch some fog, but I mist. What do you call a dinosaur with an extensive vocabulary? A thesaurus. England has no kidney bank, but it does have a Liverpool. I used to be a banker, but then I lost interest. All the toilets in New York‘s police stations have been stolen. The police have nothing to go on. PMS jokes aren‘t funny; period. I got a job at a bakery because I kneaded dough. Velcro—what a rip off! A cartoonist was found dead in his home. Details are sketchy. Venison for dinner again? Oh deer!

Notice Dolphin Splash Editor wanted. Needed. Do you have a few hours a month to work on the Dolphin Splash? I use the following programs to assist me in publishing the Splash each month: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Microsoft Outlook—Name & Address base for sending out notices. Microsoft Publisher—Used to format and print the monthly issues. Microsoft Excel—The membership database sent from the membership chairman (Kay) each month. Microsoft Access—Convert the membership database to print labels for #3‘s.

Of course, these programs are not a requirement, they are just what I use. You may find something that works better for you. The July issue of the Splash will be my last issue. I will assist anyone in getting up to speed, including prior to the July issue. The Dolphin Splash—Page 5

March INTO Rally – Tucson We had about 23 Dolphin Member coaches at the recent INTO rally in Tucson. I will expand on this article and include photos in the May splash, as we are not where I can load pictures. The rally was held at Lazy Days RV Resort, formerly Beaudry RV. There were 301 coaches signed up for the rally with about 40 that cancelled or did not show up. I think most of the rally volunteers, or a good majority, were from The Dolphins, and they did a great job. There were about fifteen vendors, with our own Dave Barr, responsible for them. He could have had more there but space was limited and a non-compete with Lazy Days service was force. Many seminars were held over the three days, as well as entertainment each night. The dinners, prepared by Lazy Days, were excellent. A golf tournament was held on Friday with a few club members participating, including Lee Haberlain, Ray Loud and myself. We did not win anything but had a good time. Ray and I played again on Saturday so I could find some of the balls I lost Friday. Lynn and I (mostly Lynn) put together a club presentation board for the chapter fair. Many people came by to see our club photos, newsletter, and some took the flyers we had available. I believe at least one potential new member, if not two, were very interested. Ophelia and Rob Haynes were at the rally, they recently rejoined the club after a few years of being away. It was great to see them. All in all, a good time was had by most everyone. A few members left their monthly allowances with vendors. Don‘t forget to see all the new LED lights in Brian and Adrian‘s coach, awesome. Several members had the See level tank gauges installed and are very pleased with the results. That is something that I am going to do also. It was great to see so many members, and now we are off to Distant Drums to catch up with many of them. We needed a Grandson stop in Tucson. Sandy
