Association between ADAMTs proteinases and Obstructive Sleep Apnea Nurhan Sarioglu, Fuat Erel, Adnan Adil Hişmiogullari, Celalettin Cevik European Respiratory Journal 2017 50: OA1759; DOI: 10.1183/1393003.congress2017.OA1759 Abstract Introduction: ADAMTs (A Disintegrin And Metalloproteinase with Thrombospondin type-1 motifs) proteinases have important roles in degradation/ repairing of extracelluler matrix. They are thought to be key role in pathogenesis of many diseases. Aims and Objectives: We aim to investigate association between ADAMTs 2, 3, 14 (procollagen) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Method: Eighty six subjects who suspected OSA were involved. Physical examination and routine blood analysis were performed. All subjects underwent polysomnography. Participants were categorized into 4 groups according to apnea-hypopnea index (AHI): control, mild, moderate and severe OSA. Levels of ADAMTs 2, 3 and 14 were determined in blood samples. Results: There was no significant difference between OSA and control group in terms of age and sex. Body mass index (BMI) and systolic blood pressure in OSA group were higher than control. ADAMTs 3 levels in severe OSA were significantly lower compared to control group (p=0.016). As OSA severity increased, ADAMTs 3 level was decreased (r=-0.29, p=0.014). No significant difference was found between groups with respect to ADAMTs 2 and 14. ADAMTs 3 level was found to be positively correlated with minimum SpO2, mean SpO2 (r=0.31, p=0.004) and negatively correlated with BMI, AHI, oxygen desaturation index (ODI), time duration with oxygen saturation
