Bolt-on scraper sets Application Check all scrapers on the drums periodically. Worse crop flow and increased power consumption might be the result of worn or blunt scrapers. Especially the scrapers on the gathering drums are of prime importance. Proceed as follows: The scrapers have to be in good condition and sharp edges in moving direction! Replace worn or blunt scrapers immediately!
Adjust the scrapers as close as possible to the external scraper bar.

Notes on 300 series whole crop silage equipment until 2003 Following positive experiences especially under difficult conditions, whole crop silage equipment for machinery manufactured until the end of 2003 contains complete modification of the outer scrapers (see 13). The new universally applicable scraper means there is no longer any need to carry out a refit for maize harvest. The implement also features the latest developments. Therefore, please check if the outer scrapers have already been modified; if so, the implement already matches 2004 model specifications, and whole crop silage equipment '2004 onwards' is sufficient.

Modifications: the 2004 standard Models built from 2004 onwards contain the improvements listed below. These enhancements can also be retrofitted to earlier machinery.

New drum covers Application All intake drum covers have been renewed in order to optimise cross-intake and crop feed to the harvester.
New drum covers The new drum covers enable a larger surface of the rotating cross-section of the intake drums to be exposed. Together with the new bolted-on intake bars, this results in greatly improved cross-intake of even lodged crop towards the centre. The removable angle bar retains ears that have fallen away, feeding them through the drum to the main crop flow.
The new covers for the outer drums increase in height to the outside, thus creating a 'stacked slope' effect, enabling stray ears to be fed back to the main crop flow.

Additional spiral augers An aggressive spiral auger is bolted on to the two central intake drums, together with two additional rotating intake turrets. A channel is thus created between the slanting intake drums and widened intake drums. This channel safely feeds the harvester with the entire crop from the extremities, even when there is a weak flow of harvested material. Higher slanting intake drums enable the transport of longer stemmed plants. The new intake elements also support repeat crop take-up, should it be necessary to work in reverse.

New external scraper bar Application Under extreme harvesting conditions, in particular where particularly tough leaves or weeds are concerned, bunches of crop fibre that become wound around the outer scraper frame can cause blockage of the outer pair of drums. This space where possible clogging can occur is reduced by means of a cone at the foot of the new scraper. In addition, the new bolt-on scraper bars can be set extremely close to this cone, thus obviating the need to fit these packages. This new, longer contour means the crop is fed more evenly to the next intake drum. These scrapers are also envisaged for whole crop harvesting and require no further replacement.

New rotating scrapers The cross-intake channel has been adapted for the new more powerful forage harvesters by means of a modified rotating scraper. Reducing the size of the scraper increases the size of the channel cross-section for greater crop flow. A guide located on the flat surface also ensures the crop is held securely in the intake drums.

PTO-shaft W2500 JD Availability Only for John Deere Serie since machine year 2005
Application The John Deere headers can be equipped with a PTO W2500. This new drive shaft requires also to exchange the tube to the main drive gearbox to rotate it 4,5° backwards. By this exchange inadmissible angles of the drive shaft are avoided. Retrofit package in addition to the drive shaft new protectors and a new tube have to be ordered.

Points to weld on The transportation and cleaning capacity of the points is less effective, if points are worn out. KEMPER offers a solution to gain a good function of the points. Clean old points, place new point and weld it on at top and bottom of the part. Do not weld on the side in turning direction as the edge should stay sharp. The edge has the function of a scraper.
