BIOGRAPHY OF ROBERTO VITALINI

Roberto Vitalini was born in Lugano, Switzerland, in 1971. He gained an MBA from the University of St.Gallen and specialized in Media and Communication at Saint Mary's College of California. Roberto Vitalini is founder and creative director of BASHIBA.com: creation and integration of real-time motion graphics into the fields of theatre, opera, dance, concerts and other live events. Roberto has delivered the generative seascape for the multimedia Show AVUDO in the old Port of Montréal (Company Finzi Pasca 2017). He was member of the Creative & Artistic Production team of Company Finzi Pasca and Video Designer for the three dimensional "forest of light" (kinetic giant LED sculpture) for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Closing Ceremony and Paralympic Opening Ceremony; he was video designer for the operas "La Traviata" (Mariinsky II Theatre 2015), "Carmen" (Teatro San Carlo 2015), "Love from Afar" (English National Opera 2009, Vlaamse Opera '10, Canadian Opera Company '12) and "Aida" (Mariinsky Theatre 2011, now theatre's repertoire, nominated to 4 Golden Mask), for Giuseppe Verdi's "Messa da Requiem" (Mariinsky Theatre 2012, now theatre's repertoire), for the theatrical shows "Donka - A Letter to Chekhov" (Company Finzi Pasca 2010, ongoing world tour), "La Verità" (Company Finzi Pasca 2013, ongoing world tour) and "Per Te" (Company Finzi Pasca 2016, ongoing world tour). In 2006 he filed the patent "Instinctive Communication Channel for the perception of Multivariate Data Changes" and the same year he founded BASHIBA.com to display real-time changes in large datasets by way of a beautiful three dimensional seascape. In view of the compelling aesthetic qualities of the solution it has been used in the operatic context to create a spectacular and immersive videoscenography. In March 2008 Roberto was granted the "Venture Leaders 2008" award by Venturelab, thanks to which he completed an entrepreneurship program at Babson College. The same year, he offered a Tech Talk at the Google Headquarters in California about RealTime Data Metaphors. Before founding BASHIBA, Roberto led the Research and Prototyping Competence Centre within the Fantastic Corporation. There, he explored future media experiences and their enabling technologies, such as the real-time integration of live sport events with broadband-enabled gaming consoles. [email protected]
