4. Technical Regulations The 7th European Orenteering Championships and 2nd European Deaf Junior Orienteering Championships will be conducted in accordance with the Rules of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF). In case of disagreement in the interpreation of the Rules, the English text shall prevail. Any unforeseen incidents not covered by the Rules will be dealt with as follows: o Cases of a general nature will be resolved in accordance with EDSO Statutes. o Technical questions will be resolved in accordance with the Rules of the IOF.

5. Participants Each Federation may enter a team of up 12 competitors – up to 6 women and 6 men. Each country can enter only one team for the realy event and in each individual race, every Fedration may enter up to 3 women and 3 men.

6. Punching system During all EDOC and EDJOC competitions, the puching system „SPORTident” will be used. Own SI-cards shall be used or can be rented from the Organising Committee for 10,00 Euro for the whole competition period. If participants lose or don’t return the rented SI control cards, they will have to pay a fine – 50,00 Euro for each control card.

7. Embargoed areas The area of the „Bükki National Park” and parts of the City of Eger are embargoed.

8. Training Because of the short time we won’t organize a training camp before the competition, but if you would like to practice, please let us know and we will help.

9. Model Event

Two official Model Events will be made available for athletes: The forest Model Event is in the area of Répáshuta-Bükkszentkereszt, east of Eger. Maps of this Model Event will be available in the scale 1:10 000. This Model Event is scheduled on 22 October 2012, 10:0012:30. The start, with scheduled buses, is possible from Hotel Eger Park – see the schedule. The Sprint and technical model event, in will be available during Monday afternoon, 22nd October 2012, 16:00-17:00. Maps without controls will be available also on 23rd October.

Model Event is included in the „Social Packages” offered to all athletes and coaches: maps and bus tickets to reach the venue of Model Event will be given for free. For those who didn’t buy a „Social Package”, Model Event maps’ cost is 3,00 Euro/person. Bus tickets’ cost is 5,00 Euro. For the two Model Events, bus tickets per each person are necessary. These bus tickets can be bought at the Event Secretariat.

13. General descriptions of terrains Sprint: EGER Land forms: Vegetation: Ground: Visibility: Roads and paths:

Eger is approx. 180 m above sea level. City park, flat. no vegetation. paved roads (95 %). very good. plenty. The terrain is an urban area.

Long distance: OLASZ-KAPU Land forms: hilly karst terrain, steep hillsides, 800-950 m asl. Lot of point objects. Many stones Vegetation: mainly beech forest, some conifers and open areas. Not much green. Ground: difficult running, stony underground. No marshes. Some branches on the ground. Visibility: mostly good to very good. Limited in conifers. Roads and paths: average network, mainly in valleys. Middle distance: HUTA-BÉRC Land forms: hilly karst terrain, steep hillsides, 850-950 m asl. Lot of point objects. Many stones Vegetation: 50% beech forest, 50% conifers. Small clearings in the hillsides. Ground: very difficult running, stony underground. Lot of branches on the ground. Visibility: Ranging from good to very poor (in green areas) Roads and paths: very few paths.

Relay: GYÖKERES-TETİ Land forms: one part is steep mountain terrain, one half is flatter with lot of detail. 500-630 m asl. Vegetation: mostly open beech forest, but some areas with a lot of bush. Small clearings. Ground: some parts are very stony, otherwise quite OK. Few marshes. Some branches. Visibility: mostly good to very good. Limited in conifers and in stony areas. Roads and paths: well-developed path network

14. Clothing Sprint – suggested sport uniforms: pants, shirt. Spike shoes are NOT allowed! Middle, Long and Relay – suggested sport uniforms: a closed form. Shoes without restrictions.

15. Weather and climate At the time of the event the weather is normally pleasant, particularly in Eger downtown, with temperatures going from a maximum of 17 ○C during the day to a minimum of 0 ○C in the evening. Rain may occur at this time of the year, especially in the mountains, where weather change unexpectedly.

17. Event centre and accommodation

Accreditation and event centre will be situated in Eger, in Hotel Eger Park (3300 Eger, Szálloda u. 1-3.). Another accommodation is Bornemissza Gergely Szakközép-, Szakiskola és Kollégium (3300 Eger, Kertész út. 128.). Participants MUST report first at the event centre.

18. Parking and transport during the event

Compulsory transport must be used during the event.

19. Excursion on the rest day

See the detailed timetable. On the rest day of Wednesday October 25, 2012, an excursion is scheduled in order to visit beauties of Eger. For those who didn’t buy a „Social Package”, the excursion cost is 20,00 Euro per person.

20. Final Banquet

A Final Banquet with buffet and party is scheduled at 19:00 on Saturday October 27, 2012. The Final Banquet is included in the „Social Packages” offered to all athletes and coaches. For those who didn’t buy a „Social Package”, the Final Banquet cost is 25,00 Euro per person.

21. Competition entry fees

For those buying a „Social Package” with accommodation at Hotel Eger-Park or Youth Hostel, competition entry fees are included. For those who didn’t buy a „Social Package”, the entry fee is 35 Euro/athlete per each competition (Sprint, Middle and Long) and 105,00 Euro per team for the Relay competition. The EDSO levy is to be paid at the Event Centre.

22. Lunch for the competition days

Middle, Long and Relay competition venues are far away from any shopping centre or restaurants. For this reason, the Organizing Committee will provide „Lunch boxes” with sandwiches, fruits, drink and cake. The „Lunch box” will be available at the Finish area and is included in the „Social Package” for those buying one of them. To those buying a „Social Package”, the lunch box is given automatically.

23. Meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) You can have breakfast in your accomodation, every day. The lunch and dinner will be served according to the information of this programe (see: 3. point).

24. Payment information All payment has to be done at the Event Centre, before Monday, 22nd October, 19:00. Countries, who have not settled their bills before this deadline, will not be allowed to start.

25. Open race There is a chance to participate in an open race, on the same terrain, the same courses as in the European Championships. Price: 10 Euro/competition
