The Way

by Samuel C. Brown, Evangelist Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:5-6 Many people think they enter Heaven on their own, and in different ways. It is believed by some that you can work your way to Heaven. Many believe that being a member of a certain church or denomination can get you into Heaven. Many believe all people are going to Heaven regardless of what they have done because God, being a loving God would not send anyone to a place like Hell. Of course, none of those beliefs are true, because Jesus would not have had to die on the cross for our sins if we could enter Heaven on our own. God is a loving God. He doesn't wish to send anyone to Hell. That is not his intention. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us- ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. II Peter 3:9 However, God being a holy God cannot look at sin. So the only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God. When one realizes they are a sinner, repent and ask for forgiveness of their sins and believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that he died on the cross in their place for their sins and accept him as their personal savior; only then can they be saved. Only then can they enter Heaven.

“Thanksgiving”

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13

On a winters crisp November morning And the leaves are falling to the ground The fog hovers over the meadow The sounds of wild life all around A gentle breeze blows across my face An early morning mist I do embrace The day Of Thanksgiving is at hand We are blessed to live in this land The aroma of roasted Turkey fills the air All pies have been baked, set out in pairs Stuffing with Chestnuts, cranberries sauce, Candid Yams, Peas, and Salad Tossed We'll be blessed with Family and friends A big big spread, yes that's the trend When dinner is over, we're all stretched out Me in my chair and maw on the Couch I'll bless this day, in a land to be free Thank the men fighting for you and me Praying soon they'll all be home to stay Never forgetting God gave us this day

As the Bible tells us, there is but one way to Heaven. Do you know that way? Have you accepted Jesus as your savior?

For What and Why Are You Thankful? by Tom Henry What does it mean to be thankful? Is this just something we say each November, do we really mean it. Yes, on thankgiving day we think of things to be thankful for. What about the day after, are we still thankful? What about mid March when all the holidays are past, are we still in a thankful state of mind? When the cold winds blow and all the pretty leaves have turned brown, are we thankful? Yes! thanksgiving is a time when most families get together for an annual dinner. Families and friends join each other for a time of feasting and remembering. So why are you thankful? Do we remember the times as a child when our parents or perhaps grandparents prepared dinner? The table was filled with good things to eat, Turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and so on. Do we remember the smiles of our parents/grandparents as we would take our seats. Do we remember the slicing of the big turkey and the handing out of the plates full of great food. Do we remember eating way to much and having to rest for the food to digest? Listening to what was said about times gone by, wondering just how it really was for the pilgrims. This thanksgiving lets remember our troops and the people in harms way. Lets' remember them everyday with pray for their safety, lets' truly care! As we gather with family and friends, there are many that cannot do this. So for what and why are you thankful? Are we thankful that we can read our bibles without fear of being shot or imprisoned. Are we thankful for the Christian values many of us were taught during the growing up years. Are we thankful enough to pass these values on to our children and grandchildren, God help us to do so. Its not just enough to tell them about our Christian values, but to live what we teach before them. Lets not let it be said, [THE WAY WE ACT SPEAKS SO LOUDLY, THAT THE YOUNG PEOPE CANNOT HEAR WHAT IS BEING SAID.] We should be thankful for our heritage and way of life. Its true that we live in a fast pace world, fast food, fast cars, fast means of travel etc. But, sometimes it is so pleasant to take a step back and reflect on quieter and peaceful times. Times like when family cared for each other and the sick person down the road. Times like 6

whole neighborhoods were like family. The children of today cannot remember it like that, and you know what, its mine and your fault. We are just to busy, way to busy. May God help us this Thanksgiving and everyway to be thankful for all things. Lets try this year to first of all be thankful to GOD, thankful for our nation. Lets be thankful for family and friends. I was taught to say please and thank you and that is still how I do. Yes, I know that may be old fashioned, there is nothing wrong with saying THANK YOU! So thank you LORD for all your blessings on me. May God bless our nation! May God bless each of you during this thanksgiving time and always. Please pray for our nation, one nation under God. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

By Knowing and Applying This, Your Life Can Become 1000 Times Richer

by Dr. Rickey A. Nation, Ph.D., NCCA I regularly receive material from people; some in the form of books, CDs, tapes, and others by email. This email changed my life and has made me 1000 times richer. It can do the same for you. It goes as follows: “Who We Are Makes a Difference” A teacher in New York decided to honor each of her seniors in high school by telling them the difference they each made. She called each student to the front of the class, one at a time. First she told each of them how they had made a difference to her and the class. Then she presented each of them with a blue ribbon imprinted with gold letters, which read, “Who I Am Makes a Difference.” Afterwards the teacher decided to do a class project to see what kind of impact recognition would have on a community. She gave each of the students three more ribbons and instructed them to go out and spread this acknowledgment ceremony. Then they were to follow up on the results, see who honored whom and report back to the class in about a week. One of the boys in the class went to a junior executive in a nearby company and honored him for helping him with his career planning. He gave him a blue ribbon and put it on his shirt. Then he gave him two extra ribbons and said, “We’re doing a class ONE VOICE ON-LINE AT www.VolunteerCouponBook.com! One Voice U Volume 6 Issue 11

project on recognition, and we’d like you to go out, find somebody to honor, give them a blue ribbon, then give them the extra blue ribbon so they can acknowledge a third person to keep this acknowledgment ceremony going. Then please report back to me and tell me what happened.” Later that day the junior executive went in to see his boss, who had been noted, by the way, as being kind of a grouchy fellow. He sat his boss down and he told him that he deeply admired him for being a creative genius. The boss seemed surprised. The junior executive asked him if he would accept the gift of the blue ribbon and would he give him permission to put it on him. His surprised boss said, “Well, sure.” The junior executives took the blue ribbon and placed it right on his boss’s jacket above his heart. As he gave him the last extra ribbon, he said “would you do me a favor? Would you take this extra ribbon and pass it on by honoring somebody else? The young boy who first gave me the ribbons is doing a project in school and we want to keep this recognition ceremony going and find out how it affects people.” That night the boss came home to his 14year-old son and sat him down. He said, “The most incredible thing happened to me today. I was in my office and one of the junior executive came in and told me he admired me and gave me a blue ribbon for being a creative genius. Imagine. He thinks I’m a creative genius. Then he put this blue ribbon that says ‘Who I Am Makes a Difference’ on my jacket above my heart. He gave me an extra ribbon and asked me to find somebody else to honor. As I was driving home tonight, I started thinking about whom I would honor with this ribbon and I thought about you. I want to honor you. My days are really hectic and when I come home I don’t pay a lot of attention to you. Sometimes I scream at you for not getting good enough grades in school and for your bedroom being a mess, but somehow tonight, I just wanted to sit here and, well, just let you know that you do make a difference to me. Besides your mother, you are the most important person in my life. You’re a great kid and I love you!” The startled boy started to sob and sob, and he couldn’t stop crying. His whole body shook. He looked up at his father and said through his tears, “Dad, earlier tonight I sat in my room and wrote a letter to you and Mom explaining why I had killed myself and asking you to forgive me. I was going to commit suicide tonight

after you were asleep. I just didn’t think that you cared at all. The letter is upstairs. I don’t think I need it after all.” His father walked upstairs, and found the heartfelt letter full of anguish and pain. The envelope was addressed, “Mom and Dad.” The boss went back to work a changed man. He was no longer a grouch but made sure to let all his employees know that they made a difference. The junior executive helped several other young people with career planning and never forgot to let them know that they made a difference in his life . . . one being the boss’s son. And the young boy and his classmates learned a valuable lesson. Who you are DOES make a difference! “And some having compassion making a difference.” Jude 22

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Romans 10: 9-11 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13

Now pray this prayer below:

Jesus, forgive me of my sins and come into my heart. Jesus, I know you have been raised from the dead. Jesus, I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that you are Lord and Savior. I ask you to save me in the name of Jesus Christ!

Por cuanto todos pecaron, y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios, Romanos 3:23. Porque la paga del pecado es muerte, mas la dádiva de Dios es vida eterna en Cristo Jesús Señor nuestro. Linda’s Thoughts

By Linda Hodge Ephesians 5:20 - Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. November 22, 2012: This day will be celebrated by many of us across America as "Thanksgiving Day". This is a day when most of us will be sitting down to dinner with family and celebrating together. Usually all the guys are gathered around the television watching a football game and the women are in the kitchen cooking and telling each other about things that are going on in their lives. Have you ever stopped to think how fortunate you are to be able to spend this day with family and friends? There are many in the country who do not have anyone to talk to or to be with on this day. Many spend their day in a "soup kitchen" or some other place where they can get a hot meal. It is really sad for me to think of all the less fortunate who do not have anyone to spend the holidays with. I know many of us say it is because they wasted their life on alcohol or drugs but does that give us an excuse to just forget them and pretend they do not exist? Many of these less fortunates started doing drugs or alcohol because of something that happened in their lives that they couldn't accept. Maybe the loss of a loved one or maybe a divorce which caused them to loose contact with their children. To some of us that is an overwhelming thing to accept. Each of us have many things to be thankful for. I know God has been very good to me. I have a wonderful family, friends, a nice home, lots of food on my table and the world seems like a happy place to me. I am so thankful for Gods blessings on me. I feel sorry for those who do not have anyone to share their days with and especially their holidays. Have you made plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas yet? Do you have family and friends coming to join you for the day or are you traveling to another location to share your day with family and friends? Have you given any thought to those who will be spending the day alone or with strangers for reasons beyond their control? I would like to ask you for just one favor. Stop for just a moment and think what you can do to make Thanksgiving special even for those who are alone. Could you volunteer your services to serve a meal for these people? Could you buy groceries for a family who has no income due to a layoff, sickness or just because they need help so they could enjoy a good meal? Maybe purchase a gift card so someone can go to a restaurant and have a decent meal.

Even if you just take a plate of food to a neighbor who needs help. There are many ways to help your neighbor. To me this is what Thanksgiving is all about. Not just to get to spend time with my family and enjoy a great Thanksgiving meal but to help someone else to enjoy the same with their family or friends or at lease be with others on this special day. Think about it. There are many ways to help someone in need. Ask God to show you what you need to do to help someone who needs to know someone really cares about them. Until next month, Happy Thanksgiving to each of you.

No Matter What

(from Postcards from the Spirit) by Stacey Evans No matter what changes, I know He loves me (Rom. 8:38•39). No matter what Satan throws at me, I can handle it through Jesus (Heb. 2:18). No matter what worries I encounter, I know God will sustain me (Isaiah 46:4). No matter what fears I have, I have strength in Christ (Isaiah 41:10). No matter if I win or lose, I will praise Him (1 Thes. 5:18). No matter what. No matter what!!! It's the way we have to live our lives. Tenacious about our faith. Unwavering in our determination to fall back on the One who is always in control {1Chron. 29:12). 1 Peter 2:2 says, Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual mill, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation. Growing up in our salvation...that's exactly what we have to do in order to get to the point of "no matter what, I will praise you, Lord." As we get older, we get wiser. Not because of age, but because of what we've learned and how we've applied it. We learn what truly matters and what doesn't. We can discern what is deceptive as we let go of the gullible tendencies of our youth. We filter out the negative in whatever manner it comes so that we can enjoy life rather than fighting our way through it. Maturity. In the same way, when we crave pure spiritual mill through God's word, praying without ceasing and relying solely on God, we become spiritually mature; able to filter out what Satan throws at us. Satan may win some moments but he never wins our souls. He never takes up residence in our hearts because that's where Jesus lives and breathes within us through the Holy Spirit. It's then we can say, "no matter what, Lord." it's then tl1at we have peace. And, just like Phil. 4:6 (MSG) savs, It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

Jesus Knows

The Lord knows our needs - Matt. 6:8 – “Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” The Lord knows when sparrows fall. Will He Friend are you suffering today in some way? There are so many ways people suffer. There is the not know about our loved one dying? Matt. 10:29 “Are suffering of rejection, illness, death of a loved one, not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them mental suffering, physical pain, poverty, betrayal. There shall not fall on the ground without your Father”. Take heart dear friend. We have a friend in are many ways in which we will suffer in this life but I Jesus. May He comfort and cheer you today with the would comfort you today with the knowledge that Jesus knows all your sorrows because He has had a few of knowledge that He is with you and that He knows. His own. It helps us to remember that Jesus knows our heartaches first hand. How can He understand? Let’s My Walk With James look at some of the ways in which Christ suffered. by Bonnie Barker by Diana Crabtree

He was: Lonely – Luke 5:16 Abandoned by his friends – Mark 14:50, John 6:66 Rejected by most of his family and neighbors – John 7:5 Mocked – Luke 22:63, Mark 5:40 People lied about him – Mark 14:56-57 He was betrayed - Luke 22:48, Matt. 26:45 He was homeless – Luke 9:58, Matt. 8:20 He was misunderstood – John 6:60 People said he was possessed and thought him odd – Mark 3:22-30, John 7:20, John 8:48, John 10:20 He was innocent and yet proclaimed guilty – Luke 23:4, Luke 23:23-25 Discouraged and heartbroken over the state of the world – Matt. 23:37 He died a particularly painful and horrible death – John 19:18, Mark 15:24, Luke 23:33 He was a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief – Isaiah 53:3

I have been thinking a lot about how my life has changed over the past couple of years... How I have grown towards the Lord… How things that were important are no longer important… How with God in my life, I can truly overcome anything! Accepting the Lord into my life is without a doubt the biggest blessing I have ever received. He has truly blessed me, but along with His blessings, there is another force attacking me; trying to make me lose focus. I have been struggling some. Satan has really been at my back attacking me with all his ammunition. With pure stubborn determination, I have been fighting back; determined that he would not get this vessel back. I have been told that having Satan after you only means that you are where the Lord wants you to be… That Satan doesn’t go after the property he already owns…. I believe that to be true, BUT I HAD A REALIZATION!! In the book of James 4:7 it says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Right there in black and white it says submit, resist, and the devil will flee???? So what have I been Jesus knows our sorrows: Heb. 4:15 says, “For doing wrong? I thought I have been submitting… I have we have not an high priest which cannot be touched been resisting… But HE AIN’T FLEEING??? So being with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points the queen of analyzation, I began to take a look inside tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” and made some discoveries…. He says for everyone to come unto him and he To Become More Like Jesus Everyday Is My will give them rest. Matt. 11:28 Goal 2 Peter 2:9 -The Lord knoweth how to deliver That is the truth. We all should strive to become the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust more and more like Jesus every day, but we should not unto the day of judgment to be punished use those words as a crutch for our mistakes. The Lord knows our heart - Romans 8:27 “And When I first became a Christian I was very he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of uneducated in the Bible and had a lot to learn. the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints Today, I am more educated in the Bible, have according to the will of God.” learned a lot, but still have much to learn. 10

Next year, I will be closer to the end goal then what I am today. That is the way it should be!! But what if you realize you are doing better than your yesterdays and are content with that. What if you make excuses for yourself because you are still going forward in your Christian journey? What if you allow yourself to be disobedient; making it ok because you are still doing “better” than your yesterday? Can’t you put some things off for your tomorrow if you are still going in the right direction? I thought I have been submitting… BUT HE STILL AIN’T FLEEING??? I have only been submitting enough to keep moving forward. I haven’t completely resisted because I am still allowing Satan to hold me back. He isn’t fleeing because I am not doing my part. It may be normal for Satan to always attack me, but I have to believe in what the scripture says and believe that if I become truly submissive, and truly resist, then Satan will truly flee. For me, being better than my yesterday cannot be enough. I have to dig deeper and listen more to what God wants for my life. The book of James goes on to say in 4:8 “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse

your hand, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” This spoke to me! It doesn’t need any further explanation other than to say that I have been double minded. I cannot serve the Lord with one mind and myself with one mind when I only have one mind to serve. . Then it says in 4:10, “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” Again, I had tunnel vision; zooming in on this verse! Humble yourselves… Humble yourselves… That really speaks volumes. My PRIDE has not allowed me to be become submissive, to be humble. The Lord really summed it up for me with verse 4:17. It says, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth not, to him it is sin.” If I am far enough along in my Christian journey to be smart enough to realize that I am not as far along as God would like for me to be, then I am sure God expects me to be smart enough to make some changes. I knoweth to do good for the Lord, but because I am choosing to doeth not, then I am sinning against Him. I have much work to do, but I pray that my shortcomings help you in your Christian journey!

A Blue Rose

by Laura West

Having four visiting family members, my wife was very busy, so I offered to go to the store for her to get some needed items which included light bulbs, paper towels, trash bags, detergent and Clorox. So off I went. I scurried around the store, gathered up my goodies and headed for the checkout counter, only to be blocked in the narrow aisle by a young man who appeared to be about sixteen-years-old. I wasn't in a hurry, so I patiently waited for the boy to realize that I was there. This was when he waved his hands excitedly in the air and declared in a loud voice, "Mommy, I'm over here." It was obvious now, he was mentally challenged and also startled as he turned and saw me standing so close to him, waiting to squeeze by. His eyes widened and surprise exploded on his face as I said, "Hey Buddy, what's your name?" "My name is Denny and I'm shopping with my mother," he responded proudly. "Wow," I said, "that's a cool name; I wish my name was Denny, but my name is Steve." "Steve, like Stevarino?" he asked. "Yes," I answered. "How old are you Denny?" How old am I now, Mommy?" he asked his mother as she slowly came over from the next aisle. "You're fifteenyears-old Denny; now be a good boy and let the man pass by." I acknowledged her and continued to talk to Denny for several more minutes about summer, bicycles and school. I watched his brown eyes dance with excitement, because he was the center of someone's attention. He then abruptly turned and headed toward the 12

toy section. ` Denny's mom had a puzzled look on her face and thanked me for taking the time to talk with her son. She told me that most people wouldn't even look at him, much less talk to him. I told her that it was my pleasure; and then I said something I have no idea where it came from, other than by the prompting of the Holy Spirit. I told her that there are plenty of red, yellow, and pink roses in God's Garden; however, "Blue Roses" are very rare and should be appreciated for their beauty and distinctiveness. You see, Denny is a Blue Rose and if someone doesn't stop and smell that rose with their heart and touch that rose with their kindness, then they've missed a blessing from God. She was silent for a second, then with a tear in her eye she asked, "Who are you?" Without thinking I said, "Oh, I'm probably just a dandelion, but I sure love living in God's garden." She reached out, squeezed my hand and said, "God bless you!" and then I had tears in my eyes. May I suggest, the next time you see a BLUE ROSE, don't turn your head and walk off. Take the time to smile and say Hello. Why? Because, by the grace of GOD this mother or father could be you. This could be your child, grandchild, niece or nephew. What a difference a moment can mean to that person or their family. From an old dandelion! I share this story because I too have my own blue rose. My daughter Maleka was born blind. At age 15 months her birth mother scalded her in a tub of hot water resulting in 3rd degree burns to over 55% of her body. Doctor’s said she had a 5% chance of living but God had other plans. She is now 17 years old and attends the School for Blind in Nashville. I have a ministry called www.lolministryproduction.com and we travel all over the Unites States sharing her story. She sings and there is never a dry eye. If your church , civic group, school, ladies retreat etc.. would like to have us come and share please contact us through the above website. God Bless!

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 KJV

Jack’s Corner by Jack Hodge

A Man and His Story Bio. Of Pete Etterman

I began this journey on Sept. 30, 2000 a lonely broken man...alcohol had nearly ruined my life. Physically and mentally broken, I ended up at an oldfashioned altar in Newton, KS. After I received salvation, I went back to my home of Minnesota; but I soon became lonesome again. I packed all of my belongings in my truck, rented my house, and moved to Texas. This move brought me closer to the church my parents were part of, which was founded by my grandparents, A.G. and Annie Etterman in the 1930's. I had spent my life running from the Church and now I knew I needed to run to it.....what a wise decision that has turned out to be! It had been fifteen years since I had played my old tenor sax, but something told me to pick it up. Little did I know, God had gifted me with the ability to play by ear. Before that, I could only play by sheet music from my many years in the school band. I sang my first special in Church to a track by the Gaither Vocal Band called "I Do Believe". By the time I finished singing, I knew I was hooked; the Spirit came down and blessed us all. This was the start of my musical journey; since that time I have learned to play my main instrument, the mandolin, along with the harmonica and the accordion. I am not one to let the grass grow under my feet, so when I was asked to teach a prayer meeting I said I would be honored to. I'll never forget that morning; I could have crawled under my chair I was so nervous. It worked out alright, though, because when you don't know anything it is hard to lean on your own understanding. God took over and fed me with what 14

I needed, and I thank God He still does today. I can not do anything, singing, playing, or preaching, unless I pray for His guidance right before. Personally, I don't have it, but He lends it to me when I ask!!! I have been speaking in churches and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ ever since. Just recently I fulfilled one of my lifelong dreams to record an album. I not only recorded one but two!! "Latitude and Altitude" is a collection of original Christian country tunes which I wrote, and "Songs That Grandma Used To Sing" is a collection of southern gospel standards and hymns. Both projects have turned into great blessings to my life. I first released the single "Crack It Open" from the L&A album to Christian Country radio after being convinced that it was good enough by Gene Higgins of HMG Nashville. It debuted in its first month at #87 on the Power Source Christian and Inspirational country top 100. The next month it moved up to #69 and we are currently waiting on the Dec. chart. I am so thankful for the fans that are buying and listening to my music, and to Christian country and country radio for playing my music. But most of all, I thank God, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and His Holy Spirit that dwells within my heart for anything I've experienced and will experience in the future. God Bless all those who serve Him and God help those who don't. Just finished recording two new projects at Coleman recording studio in Navarre, Fl. One is a totally instrumental worship cd and the other is another Christian Country album called "Noemi" Should be released in September of 1012 at a concert in Newton, KS.!!! I will be performing in the pro pits at the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals drag race in Brainerd , MN. on August 19. What a great opportunity to witness to these racers, crewmen, and fans!!! God is sooooooooo gooooodddd!!!! I have just been nominated by the CCMA for the ICM awards in

Angels From Above by Carolyn Kyzer

God sends angels from above They guard us thru the night God sends the angels with love They keep us with their light Angels walk and take care of All the dangers that surround With care and a healing touch Angels near you can be found Sweetly they tend to your call Keeping watch over the places When we go astray and do fall We feel them but can’t see faces God sends angels from above If we fail and can’t find our way
