all purpose flour cold crisco shortening sticks cinnamon sugar pinch of salt

Apple Caramel Sauce 1 cup apple cider 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar ½ cup butter ¼ cup whipping cream

Pie Filling 6 large 2 Tbsp.

Honeycrisp apples all purpose flour

2 cups 2 Tbsp. 1 cup 1 ½ cup 1 ½ tsp. ½ tsp. 3 large

packed light brown sugar apple pie spice butter, divided all purpose flour baking powder salt eggs, slightly beaten

3 Tbsp. ¼ cup

bourbon finely chopped pecans

Directions: Crust: Work ingredients together until crumbly – use fork. Add ice water, 1 Tbsp. at a time. Work into dough (approximately 5-7 Tbsp.) Place dough on wax paper and cover with another sheet of wax paper. Roll until dough is thin. Place in pie pan. Makes top and bottom pie crust. Pie Filling: Peel apples, cut into ¼” wedges. Toss 2 Tbsp. flour, ½ cup brown sugar, 2 tsp. apple pie spice. Melt ¼ cup butter into a large skillet over medium heat, adde apple mixture and sauté 15 minutes or until apples are tender and liquid is thickened. Remove from heat. Cool completely. Preheat oven to 350F. Melt remaining ¾ cup butter. Stir together flour, bakin powder, salt in a large bowl. Add eggs, bourbon, ¾ cup melted butter and remaining 1 ½ cup brown sugar stirring until blended. Stir in pecans. Place pie crust in pie dish. Spoon 2/3 apple mixture in bottom of pie crust evenly. Spoon batter over apple mixture; top with remaining apple mixture. Place pie on lower oven rack, bake at 350F for 1 hour 10 minutes or until wooden pick inserted into center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from oven. Cool completely on wirerack. Drizzle 1/3 Apple Cider Caramel Sauce on top.

Apple Cider Caramel Sauce: Cook cider over medium heat in a 3 quart sauce pan, stirring often- approximate 10 minutes or until reduced to ¼ cup. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, cool completely.
