Session 7: Investment and Development Opportunities with Shared Vacation Ownership – ARDA Discusses Results from Worldwide Shared Vacation Ownership Study

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Today’s investment opportunities are very different than yesterday’s. It is impossible to look at resort development without at least considering vacation ownership in your plan. This panel will present the most compelling information from a recent study conducted by the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) titled the “World Wide Shared Vacation Ownership Study”, which looked at both traditional timeshare and fractional ownership.

What exactly do deals look like in Asia and what are potential partners looking for in terms of investments? We all know how challenging it is to obtain financing for the resort and hospitality industry and it’s certainly no different in Asia. In this session you’ll learn who is lending to and investing in Asian resort developments and what criteria they’re using. You’ll also learn what factors are keeping others from lending in this environment and what it will take for them to return to the market.

In 2011 the US timeshare industry generated $70 billion of economic output and the industry is growing far more rapidly in Asia, with nearly 40% growth from 2008 through 2010. Our panelists will offer their interpretations of what makes timeshare/fractional investments attractive and will offer investment strategies.

CONFERENCE AGENDA 10:30 – 11:30 AM

Session 8: Casinos Flourishing in Asia – What Does It Mean to the Resort Industry? Las Vegas is branching out in a big way in Asia. Areas that once banned gaming now have some of the world’s largest casinos. With growing wealth in the region, casinos are filled nightly, meaning investors are lining up for more action. Would a casino investment be a winner in your portfolio?

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Session 9: Project Amenity Programming for New and Existing Projects Careful planning and amenity programming can set a project apart from the competition. Investors and developers are becoming more creative with new strategies to overcome seasonal demand fluctuations and by incorporating significant green and sustainable components. No longer are a signature golf course and world-class spa the only ingredients for success. Panelists will discuss these and other ‘not-so-obvious’ amenities, which, along with a surprising resurgence in soft programming, are working for many new resort projects. Come learn what is working and why.

12:30 – 2:00 PM Luncheon

2:00 – 3:00 PM

Session 10: Marketing and Sales – Old Methods vs. New Methods, What’s Working Today? Is Launch Marketing a thing of the past? Is selling a condominium building over a weekend still possible? Have pre-sales disappeared entirely? Unfortunately, the answer to these questions is YES. So how do we market and sell resort projects in today’s market? What should we budget for marketing and branding new projects, or what does it take to re-brand and reposition an existing or half-built project? There’s much to discuss so this will be a fast and action-packed hour of intense discussion on how to get to the bottom of marketing and selling in Asia today.

3:00 – 3:15 PM

Networking Break

3:15 – 4:30 PM

Session 11: If You Build It, They Will Come – Blueprints for a Digital Engagement Strategy With the global adoption of digital devices and smart phones, traditional advertising models alone will not deliver the marketing results you’re looking for. As social networking continues to grow, people have become increasingly blind to traditional advertising and prefer to engage with content that entertains, informs and educates them. Our panelists will offer insights and educated opinions on how digital engagement strategies are impacting the resort industry in Asia. You will learn how to create a personal connection to current and potential buyers and expand revenue, community and opportunity. We will discuss how Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and other social networks are changing the way resorts do business and how you can leverage social media tools to develop brand evangelism, advocacy and consumer loyalty along with regional differences in social media access and usage between Asia and North America.

WELCOME The Asia Resort Development Conference is all about opportunity. Economic growth in Southeast Asia and China is outpacing that of more established economies. Which means greater disposable income and growth of the middle class - with greater spending on travel and vacation ownership. This is seen not only in an increase in large resort projects, but also in regional RevPAR rates as high as 86%. In other words, Asia is a very hot market right now offering high-reward opportunities for investors and developers armed with the proper information and perspective. If you are developing, planning or even just thinking about investing in Asia, this Conference offers yougothic an opportunity to learn what’s century working in Asia from experts with decades of experience in the Asian hospitality sector – all without having to fly across the Pacific as it’s conveniently held right here in Las Vegas.

After just two days at the Conference, you’ll be flush with information on the most compelling opportunities in Asia. You’ll be part of intense discussion on topics from market trends to regional politics to land acquisition, construction, amenities and marketing. You’ll learn who’s lending, what types of projects get the most interest, and how to avoid pitfalls common to those not intimately familiar with operating in Asia. In addition to timely, relevant and actionable education on Asia, the Asia Resort Development Conference will provide you networking and contacts you’ll find useful for future deal making in Asia and elsewhere. Take a look at the program agenda and the speaker faculty. Then ask yourself whether you can afford to not attend. The answers are here. Will you be?
