DECADES of Dreams come true for Cincinnati Irish After many years and many attempts to put together a home for the Irish there is success; The Irish Heritage Center of Greater Cincinnati is now is a reality!! Located at 3905 Eastern Avenue in the Columbia Tusculum area of Greater Cincinnati, the Irish Heritage Center will be the future home of all things Irish for Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Plans include filling the building with Irish Theater (Irish American Theater Company), music, art, song, dance, history, geneology, literature, speakers, story tellers, events, clubs, parties, a library, a museum, and overall great craic.
Based on the successful Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago, the Irish Heritage Center of Cincinnati will be run by a team of many volunteers. They have already started the giant efforts to clean up and fix up the 44 thousand square foot building purchased from the Cincinnati School Board last month. Tom Boyle former President of the Chicago Irish American Heritage Center has kindly mentored the Cincinnati Managing Director Kent Covey and member Maureen A. Kennedy who is also the Irish American Theater's Artistic Director . Trips to Chicago, emails, & phone calls helps to keep the team enthusiastic and moving ahead on the correct track.
Help is needed in the form of donations of; time, equipment, supplies, and funding. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help. At this critical juncture, there is a need for so many things. A little help from a lot of people will surely guarantee the projects’ success. A website is under construction and will soon be up and running. The first official activity will be theater, opening on Friday February 26, and following on Saturday February 27th at 8:00 P.M., and Sunday the 28th at 2:00 P.M.
