n absolute treat for the senses is coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on December 19 at 7:30pm. Wrap yourself in the magical ambience of harps as Winter Harp graces the stage. Spellbinding celestial music will flow through the theatre as the harps, accompanied by incredible medieval instruments enchant audience members with carols and songs from long ago.

Her work encompasses more than 40 recording projects, and her ground-breaking arrangements and passionate performances helped launch the Celtic harp into the modern world. Also joining the incredible ensemble is the golden voice of acclaimed singer and harper Roger Helfrick, and the popular harper/narrrator Patrick Ball.

A delight for the eyes as well as the ears, this magnificent heartwarming concert has been enchanting audiences for over two decades. Visually stunning with breathtaking backdrops that place you in a cathedral illuminated with soft candle light and golden instruments, this is a world-class ensemble, presented by The Chilliwack Arts & Cultural Centre Society, that will set the mood beautifully for the Holiday Season.

Draped in incredible medieval costumes the extraordinary musicians play on fascinating ancient instruments, enchanting audience members with their unique sounds as they accompany the angelic harps. A hauntinglybeautiful collection of music that ranges from familiar Christmas carols to Celtic and medieval melodies creates a Christmas masterpiece that will bring endless joy to those who hear the magical songs of Winter Harp. The world’s leading Celtic harpists, Kim Robertson, credited with the renaissance of the Celtic harp in North America, is also joining Winter Harp in this fantastic concert.

Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling heads down under! Taking place in a small lake in Australia called a “billabong”, The Ugliest Duckling features a cast of vibrant and colourful creatures. The story follows a family of ducks who are flabergasted when their newest arrival isn’t a duckling, but a platypus named Yuckay! From the beginning, Yuckay knows that he isn’t like his little duck family and when his father patiently tries teaching him how to fly like a duck - Yuckay can only swim! Discouraged by his differences, and tired of not fitting in, Yuckay the platypus sets off on an adventure of discovery.

A Legends of Rock Presentation

This traditional concert will be a seasonal highlight of the concert series. The first half of the concert will showcase local dancers in excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. Choreographer, Terry McGowan will be directing the local dancers. The second half will spotlight seasonal favorites.
