**Exciting Sacred Dance Guild News** A New York City Adventure!! The Sacred Dance Guild is partnering with Trinity Church in New York City to offer a performance of “The Doors” on Sunday, October 27th, 2013 - 2:30 pm Everyone is invited to attend. SDG Member, Marilyn Green, leader of the Sacred Dance Movement choir at Trinity Church, has created a concept for a performance piece inspired by the quote “There are things known, and things unknown, and between them are the Doors"*. In brief - the piece focuses on exploring the elements of Love, Fear, Birth and Death each represented by a group of dancers (SDG and Trinity members). The SDG members are coming from the 4 corners (North, South, East & West) of North America! The “set” will be four large “doors” with dancers waiting behind each to be ‘called’ based on a conversation that the “Ringmaster” will have with the audience..... they choose the order and the performance will unfold! This collaboration has a number of objectives that are close to the heart of the Sacred Dance Guild and what we are about. • • • • •

Provide public outreach in New York City on "Dance as a Sacred Art". Engage sacred dancers from all over North America in creating and performing a communal Sacred Dance piece. Promote and publicize the SDG and Trinity in their roles as advocates for dance as a sacred art. Model SDG in its role as a network for sacred dancers from all backgrounds and experiences. Give SDG members a time to dance together in sacred movement in a sacred space!

SDG Dancers are gathering and preparing even as we write this note with the following leads: NORTH–Wendy Morrell SOUTH–Peggy Hoffman EAST–Marilyn Green WEST Emmalyn Moreno

The performance will be a benefit for the Sacred Dance Guild. Invite your friends and family to join us at what we are sure will be a thought provoking performance followed by a “talkback” time with performers and a light reception. BONUS!! As an added treat, New City SDG network and Trinity Movement Choir members will be offering a concert of “The Doors” on the Friday evening at 7:30, October 25th at St. Francis Xavier Church - 16th St. between 5th & 6th Aves. This will be another wonderful opportunity to see a different presentation of the performance. This is open to one and all as well and, for those travelling to New York from the WEST, SOUTH and NORTH to perform on the Sunday, it will be great to have a chance to see the NYC group interpretation! For details contact Wendy Morrell at [email protected] or call 613-726-1375.
