Mumbai, Maharashtra, January 27, 2014 /India PRwire/ -- It has been an immensely joyous journey for Jaico as we launched Dr. Radhakrishnan Pillai's much-awaited book Chanakya's 7 Secrets of Leadership earlier this week at the International Convention Hall, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Mumbai. Chanakya's 7 Secrets of Leadership as the title suggests, is the sequel to the widely acclaimed Corporate Chanakya that imparts the teachings of the 4th century BC leadership guru's treatise Arthashastra that speaks of good governance based on ideal leadership. The author's passion for Chanakya's teachings coupled with extensive research on Arthashastra has culminated into this wonderfully written book where theory meets practice and scholarship meets police supervision. In Chanakya's 7 Secrets of Leadership, the author adopts Chanakya's idea of nation known as saptanga that constitutes seven pillars of kingdom: swami, amatya, janpada, durg, kosha, dand, mitra. Saptanga is demonstrated with a unique case study of the iconic D.Sivanandhan, Former Director General of Police, Maharashtra and co-author of the book. It is a fascinating read on the dynamic leadership skills of D.Sivanandhan who has created extremely effective strategies for an exemplary management model of law and order. The other speaker at the event was Ashishkumar Chauhan, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), who was highly appreciative of the authors and extended his best wishes to both, particularly D.Sivanandhan who is the much-admired Security Adviser to BSE. These were followed by interesting anecdotes by the authors who shared their experiences about the book including their personal journeys that built their identities and thanked their families, colleagues and friends for making Chanakya's 7 Secrets of Leadership a success. Radhakrishnan Pillai from the University of Mumbai's Department of Philosophy, is the founder-director of the Chanakya Institute of Public Leadership (CIPL). A trainer, researcher, author and teacher on leadership, he received the Sardar Patel International Award in 2009 for his research in and contribution to the field of management and industrial development. His first book, Corporate Chanakya, created records in the management books category. It has also been considered for academic research in educational institutions across the globe. Having mentored thousands of leaders, Pillai is widely accredited with bringing Chanakya back into our generation as a management and leadership guru. D. Sivanandhan, former Director General of Police, Maharashtra, has had an illustrious career of over 35 years. He joined the IPS in 1976 and remains one of India's most recognized and highly regarded officers. With six years each in the Intelligence Bureau and the Mumbai Crime Branch, he is credited with having broken the back of the underworld when it was at its peak in Mumbai.
