Dr. Stephen L. Lowery is the Senior Pastor of the National Church of God in Fort Washington, Maryland. Steve and his family have ministered at National since 1981, and he has served as the Senior Pastor since 1996. Over the years, this versatile, multi-talented servant of God has been in great demand for his instrumental music and powerful singing, as well as his dynamic preaching and teaching. He has ministered for, and with such Kingdom greats as T.D. Jakes, Benny Henn, Jimmy Swaggart, R.W. The impact of National Ministries has been felt, not only in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, but across America and in many foreign nations. Every week, Dr. Lowery and the ministries of National Church of God touch hundreds and thousands of lives, communicating the Love and Gospel of Jesus Christ. Steve and his wife Janice, live in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area with their four married children, Aimee, Stephanie, Jon and Michael, and now, four wonderful grandchildren. While in college, Steve and Jan were married in 1971 in Cleveland, Tennessee. Steve was the owner and president of a successful home electronics corporation and thought he would be a businessman the rest of his life. But, in one weekend, God changed the calling on his life and, he and his family moved to Washington to work with Steve’s internationally known father, Dr. T.L. Lowery. Here, God has blessed their efforts and, beginning with only 59 members, today the membership of National Church is over three thousand. Dr. Lowery has been a member of the State Council for the Del-Mar-Va-DC Region, and serves on many state, national and international denominational and secular boards. He serves on the board of trustees for Lee University and is the President of the National Bible College & Seminary in Fort Washington, Maryland. God moved Steve to Washington, D.C. in 1981 to help fulfill the vision that had been birthed within the spirit of his father, Dr. T.L. Lowery, which came as a result of a 40 day fast. This was a vision to build a work for the Kingdom that would be a force to be reckoned with in the fight against the kingdom of darkness. He labored as second man (in charge of Music, Media, and Ministry coordination) for sixteen years until his father was re-elected as Assistant General Overseer of the Church of God International in 1996. Since then, National Ministries has continued to grow in membership and influence under Pastor Steve’s leadership style of love and compassion for souls. The unity of this diverse, multi-cultural, multi-racial, multinational, multi-economic and multi-ethnic congregation is celebrated by the mission statement, “One People Worshiping One God.”
