Option CL18 is a two-stage thermostat and subbase with an auto/on fan (blower) switch and an off/auto system switch. It can be used with a two stage gas valve for two stages of heating control based on the temperature settings. Or, it can be used with a single-stage gas valve with the first stage control providing automatic fan or blower only recirculation operation and the second stage for heating. • If the application is two-stage heating, THESE INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT APPLY. Discard this sheet and the wiring diagram labels. Install the thermostat by following the manufacturer’s instructions that are provided with the thermostat and the wiring diagram on the heater. Be sure to comply with the requirements for thermostat location. • If the application is automatic thermostat controlled fan or blower only recirculation with a single-stage gas valve, follow the instructions on this sheet.

Install the Thermostat Install the thermostat according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Be careful to comply with the requirements covering the location of the thermostat. Set thermostat second stage anticipator at 0.6 amps and first stage anticipator at minimum. Jumper thermostat terminals G to W1 and RH to RC.
2. Adhere the New Wiring Diagram Label Select the appropriate wiring diagram label from the package. (Only one will be used; discard the other wiring diagram labels.) Before removing the backing, position the wiring diagram label over the wiring diagram on the heater. Carefully remove the backing and adhere the label so that it completely covers the wiring diagram already on the heater. 3. For future reference, put this instruction sheet with the heater installation manual. Turn on the electric and the gas. Follow the lighting instructions to light the heater. Check for proper operation.
