Five Years Supplier Award ”Partner des Jahres“ On 10 February this year we will be celebrating a small anniversary - it is already the fifth time that we will be awarding our ”Partner des Jahres“ in the city hall in Papenburg. The determination of the prize winners was carried out based on our supplier ratings for our delivered newbuildings in 2010. This year our newbuildings S.680, AIDAblu as well as S.677, Celebrity Eclipse were the basis for the rating. The results of the supplier rating for the Disney Dream delivered in December 2010 will be considered in the determination of next year‘s prize winners. > Page 2

Five Years Supplier Award ”Partner des Jahres“ MEYER WERFT‘s supplier award ”Partner des Jahres“ has developed into a constant in international shipbuilding. The appreciation of the companies awarded by us is reflected in press releases, by respective messages on homepages and last but not least by using the specially designed logo ”Partner des Jahres“ on the official business papers of the partner companies.

Of course we are very happy that our award has established itself as a renowned seal of quality, and that it presents an excellent reference to our „Partner des Jahres“ also for new business relations. Our anniversary five years of ”Partner des Jahres“ is at the same time an incentive for an essential further intensification of our cooperation in terms of a continuous improvement process - we are looking forward to it.

Construction Measures in 2011 This year we are again investing into the shipyard to maintain and further expand our market position. Both construction and conversion measures are planned for 2011. The probably most important measure in 2011 for the shipyard is the planned flow production in the section outfitting. We are working intensively to decide, whether to effect it in hall 4 or alternatively in a new hall 11. This helps to extend the laser centre significantly. This step bundles the complete section production from the first steel cutting and the panel construction to outfitting at MEYER WERFT Laserzentrum GmbH.

In order not to lose time we are already making provisions for the construction of a hall 11 as well as for the creation of alternative parking space. The use of the hall areas 1-4 will then be revised. The room made available in halls 1-3 by the move of the section outfitting will be taken over by MEYER WERFT Rohrzentrum, which hereby assumes here a more central position at the shipyard and can supply the other operative sections and companies in a better and more effective manner. The vacant areas in the Rohrzentrum are then mostly taken over by the central warehouse. These measures together with the required reconstruction works should be completed by mid to end of 2011.

MEYER WERFT at the ”Business Plus“ in Oldenburg

Beside several regional companies, MEYER WERFT was present at the ”Business Plus“ on 9 and 10 December 2010. The Weser-Ems halls in Oldenburg were hosting the 4th edition of this business platform. 180 exhibitors presented their products to around 7,000 visitors on 5,000 m² exhibition space. The motto of the NorthWest Fair 2010 was ”Sustainability“.

Deliveries 2010 Delivery of AIDAblu On 5 February 2010 MEYER WERFT delivered the 71,300-gt club ship AIDAblu to AIDA Cruises (Rostock) in the port of Emden.

Following the delivery to the owners, the AIDAblu was christened in Hamburg on 9 February 2010 by the fashion designer Jette Joop.

The AIDAblu is the fourth ship out of a series of six club ships MEYER WERFT is building for AIDA Cruises. On this ship which is tailored to meet the taste of German passengers comfortable interiors are combined with state-of-the-art technical outfitting. Both safety and entertainment meet the latest technical standards ensured by the diesel-electric propulsion system, interactive communication systems and sophisticated stage technology.

Delivery of Celebrity Eclipse On 15 April 2010 MEYER WERFT delivered the 122,000-gt cruise ship Celebrity Eclipse to Celebrity Cruises (Miami, USA) in the Dutch port of Eemshaven. The Celebrity Eclipse is the third ship out of a series of five Celebrity Cruises has ordered from us. Considerable energy saving is ensured by highly energy-efficient systems such as a photovoltaic system, optimised hull design (hydrodynamics), a very effective underwater coating and an energy-saving lighting system using LEDs. The cruise ship was christened in Southampton on 24 April 2010.

Delivery of Disney Dream On 9 December 2010 Disney Cruise Line took possession of its family cruise ship Disney Dream from MEYER WERFT aboard the ship in Bremerhaven. Having a length of 340 m and a breadth of 37 m, she is the biggest passenger ship hitherto built in Germany. She can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers. Following an intense planning period, construction of the ship began on 2 March 2009, and was now successfully completed. On 20 December the 130,000-gt ship departed for her Atlanic crossing. The Disney Dream is scheduled to sail three-, four- and five-night cruises to the Bahamas, from Port Canaveral, starting in January 2011.

For many years Wagener Gastronomie Engineering has been delivering stainless steel components that are used in different sections of the cruise ships to MEYER WERFT. Primarily these are exhaust air hoods for galleys and pantries, but also other stainless steel components for galleys and laundries, like e.g. tables and lint filters are part of our range of products.

MEYER WERFT has to face the challenge to save cost and weight for every newbuilding. We also have to face this challenge so that our products can prevail in the market and that we can secure a good number of orders in hand for our company. Meeting the continuously increasing pressure of cost with prices at which we offer our products and are still able to act in an economically responsible manner at the same time is already a big task, but it is not the only one. Furthermore, using innovative solutions, we need to continuously develop and improve our products. The close cooperation with MEYER WERFT that has grown over many years helps us in this task, as many of these solutions are developed together with their employees, so that the special requirements of our customers become part of our product development. Such a cooperation works only based on mutual trust and cooperative dialogue. Part of this is that all persons who can contribute to the further development and improvement of our products form part of this cooperation and that nobody is ignored. We feel that there are possibilities here to improve our cooperation, as at present there is no central contact partner at the shipyard who ensures that the right information is passed on to the appropriate persons. An example of a product development arising from the close cooperation between MEYER WERFT and ourselves is our new stainless steel wall and ceiling system for galleys. In close cooperation with the

shipyard we could develop a solution reduced in cost and weight with this system, and we are convinced that this system will be used on future newbuildings. The result of our common efforts is a win-win situation for Wagener Gastronomie Engineering and MEYER WERFT. It helps us to continue to expand our market position and to establish a completely new product branch while the shipyard benefits from a weight and cost-optimised system for galleys on future newbuildings. We think that the approach to tackle new challenges the market denotes to the end product together with our customer is right, as we as a supplier are in the end in the same boat as the shipyard. We do not ask ourselves if we can afford a new development, but if we can afford not to implement a new development.


New orders fROM AIDA Cruises and NCL After more than two years without orders for newbuildings, the order from AIDA Cruises for another ship of the running series as well as the order for two cruise liners for NCL offered great relief to the team of MEYER WERFT. Surely there is no one in our company or in our many partner companies who is not relieved and happy about the fact that these exciting and innovative ships are built by us and give us at least a partial workload until 2014. Beside the ”sporting“ challenge to realise the short construction time for the first NCL ship, the contractual prices for all three ships represent an enormous challenge. There is fierce competition for all newbuilding projects on the market, and presently they are at the price level of 2003 and 2004. Unfortunately the prices for the required raw materials like for example oil, copper, steel etc. partly have seen explosive increases in the past years so that the challenges for us to build the ships in a cost-covering manner have risen considerably. As previously reported several times, in the past years we have laid the technical basis to maintain our successful market position thanks to investments of several hundred million Euros in modern production facilities. With our programme ”lean shipbuilding“, which is based on the principle known from the automotive industry of ”pull - cycle - flow - zero defects“ (”fließen – takten – ziehen – Null-Fehler“) and the simultaneous creation of a CIP organisation (CIP = continuous improvement process), that are continually found in all areas of the shipyard, we have created the basis to increase our productivity by 50% in less than three years. This increase in productivity in a relatively short period of time is of elementary importance, as the prices for the said newbuilding orders are already based on this considerable increase in our productivity. The results so far from different production areas give us a clear indication that we have chosen the right path - however we still have a long way to go. In order to reach the objectives connected with the orders we depend to a great extent on

you, our partner companies. Our internal measures alone are far from sufficient to process the orders for AIDA and NCL with commercial success. More than 75% of the cost of a cruise liner is third party costs i.e. the part that we purchase from you. Not only the technical, but also the commercial success or failure of our orders depends particularly on you, we depend on your support! Whilst keeping at least constant quality, we must jointly find ways to drastically reduce the prices for installations/systems, goods and services to be delivered by you. To be clear: It is principally not important to become cheaper, but it is important in terms of ”total cost“ to cost! The ”lean shipbuilding principle“, however, works only when all companies involved in the construction of the ships are integrated into the systematics of ”lean construction“. Part of our partner companies, mainly from the interiors/ accommodation sector, was already integrated into the training courses. During our newbuilding S.677, Celebrity Eclipse, these companies could already assure themselves with success of the advantages not only for the shipyard, but also for their own companies. Further training courses will follow. We will consequently develop further this system in order to for example significantly reduce the cost both on our as also on your side via improving the planning in prefabrication, shorter processing/dismantling times etc. We trust that in your own interest you will actively support us in all measures for the successful processing of our newbuilding orders. The challenges linked to the new orders are surely huge, but in the usual cooperation as partners we will master even these challenges with flying colours.

A New Concept for the ”Regional Day 2011“ On 27 August 2011 the ”Regional Day“ of MEYER WERFT will take place for the fourth time in a row. Once again companies headquartered in the German postal code areas 26, 27, 28, 48 and 49, as well as in the Dutch provinces of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe will be invited to attend. This year the fourth meeting of companies at the shipyard will follow a different concept compared to the years before. While at the previous events the focus was on establishing contacts between regional companies and the purchasing and technical departments of MEYER WERFT, this year emphasis will be put on bringing together representatives of regional companies with each other and with the shipyard‘s national and international suppliers. Some of these companies will also be represented

at the event. In this manner MEYER WERFT will make allowance for the concept of its ”Regional Network“ as part of the MEYER NEPTUN PORTAL. This network is open to companies headquartered in a fore-mentioned regions. It offers its members the possibility to present their products and services to each other and to MEYER WERFT‘s national and international suppliers that seek regional assistance for execution of their work at the yard. Companies will be invited to attend the ”Regional Day 2011“ through regional media, economic associations and the chambers of industry and commerce. Companies interested to join this event can get registered online on www.meyerwerft.com in due course.

New Orders for Neptun Werft On 23 November 2010 Viking River Cruises celebrated at NEPTUN WERFT in Rostock in presence of Rüdiger Möller, State Secretary in the Ministry for Economy and Tourism of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania the keel-laying of the Rhine-Main-Danube cruise ship Viking Prestige. This was the Swiss shipping company‘s symbolic foundation stone for its extensive newbuilding programme. The Viking Prestige will be the first ship to enter into service in the season of 2011. On the occasion of the official ceremony at NEPTUN WERFT, Viking River Cruises announced also four newbuildings for the season of 2012. Manfred Müller-Fahrenholz, General Manager of NEPTUN WERFT, is happy about the cooperation with the Swiss shipping company as the orders contribute to maintain employment until spring 2012.
