Event In 1988, ESCA - the European Speech Communication Association - was

founded and its statutes were registered in Grenoble. The following year, in 1989, the first edition of the Eurospeech Conference was held in Paris (France). Year after year, ESCA developed and, at the turn of the century, it merged with the Permanent Committee of ICSLP and became an International Association: ISCA. Eurospeech is now embedded into the yearly series of Interspeech conferences, attracting over 1200 international participants from various scientific backgrounds related to Speech
The 14th edition of Interspeech will be held in Lyon, France, on August 25-29th and will be the opportunity to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of ESCA-ISCA, in the very area of the world where ESCA was born.
Location Lyon, capital of the Rhône-Alpes Region, is located between Paris and the Mediterranean Sea, at the feet of the French Alps, and is easily reached from anywhere by high-speed TGV train or by plane. The Rhône-Alpes Region is the second highest-ranked French region (after the Paris area) in terms of research; and fifth highestranked in Europe. Thanks to the very strong cross-over between its 27,000 permanent researchers and industrial companies, the Region generates 20% of the patent applications in France and is thus a leader for innovation and economic development. More locally, the Greater Lyon urban community is one of the European leaders in research and innovation on urban transport and interactive multimedia, but also and primarily in health and medical industry, with a very dense network of actors connecting hospitals, start-up companies in biotechnology and several World Class companies.
Venue Interspeech 2013 will be held at Lyon Convention Center, ideally situated in a beautiful setting between the River Rhône and the Parc de la Tête d’Or, just beside the heart of the city.
