Rules — Design Section 1. All designs are open to any amateur designer. 2. Designs to be staged on 29” high tables. Designers space is 36” wide and 30” deep covered by a green plastic cloth. Background heights, width and shape are exhibitor’s choice. Backboard Panels and Underlays are required in each exhibit and shall be provided by the exhibitor. 3. Advanced registration is required and will be accepted by Muriel Turner (703-793-0845) before June 17, 2012. Exhibitors will be responsible for filling the required space, maintaining the exhibit in show condition and to provide a substitute if unable to participate. 4. Entries must be placed Friday, June 29 between 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. or Saturday, June 30 from 8:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. and must remain in place until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, July 1 when they should be removed promptly. 5. An exhibitor may enter as many classes as desired, but only one entry per class is allowed. 6. Lilies must dominate in all designs. A 3” x 5” card listing all plant materials used must accompany each entry. 7. NO ARTIFICIAL FLOWERS, FRUIT, OR FOLIAGE MAY BE USED. NO PAINTED OR TREATED FRESH PLANT MATERIAL WILL BE PERMITTED. 8. Plants on State conservation lists, grown by exhibitor or obtained in a legal manner and so marked may be used. 9. American flag and other national flags must be displayed in with your text accordanceReplace with proper flag etiquette. 10. The Committee will exercise care in safeguarding properties, but regrets that the Potomac Lily Society and Brookside Gardens cannot assume responsibility for loss or damage. 11. D, Best Species, Best Interdivisional Hybrid, Best Entry by a Novice, Best Lily Grown in Pot, Best Collection of Three Stems, Best Horticultural Entry in Show, and the Harlin G. Turner Award for Best Design. 2. No major award will be given to a lily which does not qualify for a blue ribbon. 3. All designs are eligible for the Harlin G. Turner Best Design in Show Award. Bulb awards will be given to Design Class blue ribbon winners.

Rules — Horticultural Section 1. Classes are open to any grower of lilies. 2. All lilies exhibited in competition must have been grown by the exhibitor. Exhibitors may make more than one entry in a class, provided that each is a different cultivar. Entries permitted in dual names, but no duplicate entries from the same garden. 3. Only true lilies (genus Lilium) having scaly bulbs permitted. Entries to be free of obvious defects and/or disease. Specimens with abnormalities will be set aside and not judged. Anthers may be removed, but it is preferable to leave them on. A lily stem must have one bloom open to the typical shape for that particular variety to be eligible for judging. 4. For all Divisions or Classes without Divisions where entries are “single stem”, exhibitors may enter as many stems as desired so long as each stem is of a different cultivar. 5. Entry cards and containers for specimens will be furnished by the Show Committee. In collections, each stem is shown in an individual container. Each entry must be correctly named, identified with an official entry card and placed in the proper class. Both sections of the entry card must be completed. 6. Exhibits must be in place, ready for judging not later than 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, 30 June and must remain in place until 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, 1 July when they should be removed promptly. Entries not claimed by 4:30 P.M. will be disposed of by the Committee. 3. Entries are the property of the exhibitor, and are not to be touched by anyone else except the Show Committee. Anthers and pollen may be removed only by the owner, or with the owners express permission. 4. Doors will be closed during judging. Only Judges, Clerks, Runners, Tabulators, Chairman of Judges and Classification, and the Show Chairman may be present while the judging is in progress. 5. At the close of the show, the exhibit room will be cleared before dismantling. Only exhibitors will be permitted in the showroom to remove exhibits. 6.
