IEC 61373 (IEC 60373). Refer to annexure C of IEC61373 Handle bar should be of minimum 12 mm dia of stainless steel.

Weight of the STMC (say 20 Kg)

ii) It should acquire lesser space approximately (400 mm length x 250 mm width). Height of the equipment should be 170 mm max without handle.

Reason: It is a loco operation item and should be more rugged.

Reason: clearly mentioned in final draft specification

Reverser Handle (MPJ)

Comments M/s Inder Engg./BPL No comments

Recommended same CLW make key to be inserted in same vertical plane as in old conventional type master controller.

Accepted/Rejected with reason M/s Saitronik/HYB The marking should be engraved on the label and shall be riveted on the top plate.

Rejected: additional engraved marking plate which is riveted. Reason: More no. of process involved with less reliability. So it should be engraved in the top plate only. Accepted: Same CLW make key to be inserted in same vertical plane as in old conventional type master controller. Changes in para 5.2.1 have been made accordingly. Reason: 1. Railways have repeatedly raised the issue to use same MPJ key in all type of master controllers. 2. Railways suggestions (As per CELE letter no. EL/LOCO/NCR/BHEL dt 13.08.10) for using convention reverser key MPJ for operational convenience. When staff take MPJ key it should be without bothering about type of Master controller fitted in the loco. This issue had been discussed with the manufacturers several times but no any design solution came out from manufacturers. 3. This requirement also came from N. C. Railway to avoid operation difficulties as per para 6 of letter no. JHS/RS/T-68/SS dated 23.04.10.(Placed at sl no. 302) . 4. Sr. EDSE/RDSO recommended the same in Page 2 of 8

his tour note (para 1.1.1) dated 18th & 19th Mar‟2010.(Placed at sl no. 301) 5. As per observation of CR letter no. BSL/TRS/SSE/SE/PPIO/3 dated24.01.09 (para 6) ZSMGR panel cock also has common slot as reverser key. (Placed at sl no. 266) Accepted: 1. “U” path for operation from traction to braking side. 2. Position of MP handle shifted to extreme right side from middle. Changes in para 5.2.2 have been made accordingly. Reason: 1. a) Similar „U‟ path MP handle is used in EMD & ALCO diesel loco. (Placed at sl no. 352) b) The movement of the MP handle should be visible clearly during the shifting from traction to braking side or vice-versa. C) Due to simple & more reliable mechanism, this mechanism is used worldwide. Pull to operate mechanism was complicated and unreliable as it need more components like spring and pulling arrangements to release MP handle to braking side. d) Operational staff of CR observed that there is a chance of stuck up the existing pulling type of locking lever from TR to BR or during abnormal condition if quickly transfer to „0‟ position. a) The regular operation of MP handle is done by drivers. It would be more convenient to operate If MP handle is on the extreme right side. Previously rubbing of hand with MPS handle used to occur. Now this problem is also solved by shifting MP at the extreme right position. b) Comments given by Sr DEE/TRS/JHS for STMC in feed back of crew friendly cab that “it is also felt that the position of the control lever is also a cause of uncomfort. It will be more comfortable to keep the main control lever (MP handle) middle one which is maximum use in front of the right hand of the loco pilot as provided in three phase locomotives. At present this lever is in front of his nose which is uncomfortable to pushing and pulling back. Hence both the positioning of lever as well as force required to operate it need improvement”. As per para 6 of letter no. JHS/RS/T-68/SS dated 23.04.10 (Place at sl no. 302) C As per MOM dated 11.05.10 point no. 3 (Vii) shifting of main MP handle by 2” on the right side for both the manufacturer were instructed . d) As per feedback of ELS/JHS/NCR staff & loco pilot through email dated 11.05.10 that gap between MP and MPS handle to be increased. (Placed at sl no. 308) Accepted: Position of MPS handle shifted to middle from Page 4 of 8

1. Amphenol/Allied or equivalent to MIL STD –C-5015. 2. Female coupler to be supplied with master controller (Female coupler to be wired with loco cables by railways. [Female coupler plug ( to be wired with loco cables)]

Reason: MPS handle is occasionally operated by the driver so it is operated from middle position comfortably. MP handle kept on extreme right. Accepted: Couplers are defined according to specification requirements. Male Coupler Socket 28-12S (to be mounted on master controller) Female coupler Plug 28-12P (to be wired with loco cables) supplied along with suitable soldered 5 meters cable and other end with feruled 3mm sq lugs. Reason: In view of standardization of the STMC unit couplers are define clearly in the spec.
