Hit the Slopes! Ski Trip to Breckenridge Date: Wednesday, March 5, 2008 Time: 7am to 6pm What: A round trip visit to the mountains for skiing, snowboarding, or shopping, your choice. The mountains are beautiful in the spring with corn snow to ski and snowboard. Bargains galore await shoppers since the local merchants want to clear out their merchandise before the end of the season. We will meet outside the LCC conference hotel for the 1 1/2 hour ride over the Continental Divide. A great way to see the Colorado high country with LCC friends. Prices vary, and we need a minimum of 15 brave souls to schedule the bus. Total Cost per person: includes bus trip, equipment rental and lift ticket. Lunch is on your own. Mario is a well-known, and very twisted, Colorado author. Paul Rielly of Corazon Tequila has kindly donated 3 bottles for our tasting pleasure. You drink, we’ll do the driving. Mystery Trivia Test your knowledge in a Jeopardy-style game! Win prizes! Date: Preliminary rounds on Thursday and Friday, final on Saturday. Time: During regular programming sessions Cost: Free! You Rabbit, Me Cougar! (Surveillance Workshop) Celebrity authors attempt to elude their fans: In this exercise “fans” will try to track “celebrity authors” through the urban environs around the 16th St. Mall (right outside the hotel). Includes a workshop on surveillance techniques and a cocktail debriefing party following. Place: Adam’s Mark Hotel and surrounding area, mostly 16th Street Mall Date: Friday, March 7, 2008 Time: afternoon and early evening Specifics: After a one-hour lecture on surveillance techniques, 8 teams of “fans” will have a one-hour practical exercise following 8 celebrity authors, starting from the Adam’s Mark Hotel, through parts of the 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver, and will then end up at the MWA Hospitality Room for a debriefing, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and mingling with other conference attendees. The Shining and the Gray Lady Lunch trip to Estes Park Join your LCC friends for a trip to historical Estes Park, the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Enjoy the scenery as we wind our way into the high country, eat lunch and tour the Stanley Hotel (Stephen King’s inspiration for The Shining), and spend an hour or two walking main street. We need a minimum of 15 adventurers to schedule the bus. Date: Monday, March 10, 2008 Time: 9am to 3:30pm Cost: $52, includes bus trip and lunch. Estes Trip: All Ages - $52
