Executive Summary Mobility is a dynamic spatial phenomenon of urban as a result of urban development transition process, especially in the developing countries. Where, people react to urban development to fulfil of what their need in life. Presently, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia are considered as developing countries which would have the varieties of people lifestyles and spatial human mobility. Hence, this study attempts to discover the patterns and characteristics of human mobility in both countries. It is also to evaluate on how the human mobility impacts on the level of living quality of urban people. Data analysis will be based on the published secondary data and surveys as well as mobile phone location data. The results will incorporate with the theoretical findings to illustrate and understand the dynamic of human mobility in different areas of city (hotspots) which can serve as a reference for urban planning as well as traffic management and social supports. So that this study would benefit the decision makers for the betterment of the future urban development policies and strategies towards a resilient urban community.

2.

To analyse the current demographic profiles and development transitions of Malaysia, and

3.

To evaluate the spatial characterisation of human mobility of urban people in Malaysia Where, why, who, and what impacts to the urban community and urban development as a whole?

Research Questions 1.

Why the study of human mobility is important?
