Editorial Theme: Polymers And Polymer Composites

The current thematic issue of Current Organic Synthesis (COS) focuses on polymers and polymer composites. Polymers and polymer composites are engineering materials that have found wide application in various industries ranging from children toys to aircraft components due to their excellent properties such as light weight, corrosion resistance, part integration, and significant specific strength and stiffness. For instance, polymers and polymer composites have been used as automotive components such as car body, chassis, and interior parts. Therefore, it is appealing to compile papers related to polymers and polymer composites in this special issue to provide the readers overview and advances in this promising area. The aims of this thematic issue on polymers and polymer composites in Current Organic Synthesis are to disseminate reviews and research findings in the area of polymers and its composites focusing on the synthesis, processing, properties and applications. The authors are selected by inviting the contributors mostly from technologically advanced countries in the area of polymers and composites. Ten papers are contributed by the authors from all around the world such as Jordan, Malaysia, India, Eritrea, Portugal, France, Saudi Arabia, UK, Morocco, and Canada. This thematic issue covers various topics in polymers and polymer composites such as characterization of starch, and poly(lactic acid) as biopolymers in composites, properties of natural fibres composite from rice husk and sugar palm fibres, polyurethane composites, nano-particles and carbon nano-tube polymer composites, fibre treatments in composites, polymer recycling, and polyamides. We hope this special issue will trigger more important research not only in the area of materials characterization but also in other research areas such as in designing functional polymer materials and structure analysis, fabrication process, structural health monitoring.
