English Language Proficiency Test Waiver To be admitted to AUA, applicants must have the English skills and ability to succeed in their studies. Accordingly, graduate and undergraduate program applicants are required to demonstrate English language proficiency, typically by taking a standardized English test, the TOEFL or IELTS. Master's degree applicants who are graduates of recognized universities whose primary language of instruction is English may be exempt from the English language proficiency test. Bachelor's degree applicants who have completed at least two years of full-time study at a recognized secondary school, college, or university whose primary language of instruction is English and have obtained a minimum grade point average of 3.0 out of a 4.0 scale, or equivalent, may request a waiver of the English language proficiency test. If you feel you should receive a waiver from this test because your primary language is English or have completed your studies in English, please fill out the attached form and send it to
[email protected]. AUA considers requests on a case-by-case basis and may require further information or interviews. To avoid delays in admission decisions, applicants are advised to submit their waiver request at least 8 weeks prior to submitting their application. Applicants should not assume they will automatically be granted a waiver. When there is doubt about English proficiency, applicants may be asked to take the TOEFL or IELTS. Applicants not receiving a waiver should arrange to take the TOEFL or IELTS and assure that test results are reported in a timely manner to AUA.
