Mantelpiece Basket - Instructor Joanna Schutt In olden days, a “keeping room” was the center of a colonial home. It was warmed by the fireplace and most of life’s activity took place in that small room. Baskets were woven and hung on pegs or placed on mantels to keep much of the necessary clutter handy, yet out of sight. Our version of a Mantelpiece Basket will work wonderfully in your primitive decor. It measures 16” x 8” base, 4” sides and 10” handle. All levels of weavers will enjoy this one-evening project. Materials and tools will be provided. Date & Time: Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - 6:00PM Location: Pine City High School, 7th Grade Commons, Pine City Class Fee: $42.00 to Pine City Community Ed, due one week before class.

Colonial Gathering Basket - Joanna Schutt Throughout history baskets have been used for collecting, transporting and storing produce. Our antique reproduction of the Colonial Gathering Basket will prove just as useful as those baskets of by-gone days. Measuring 10” round, this basket has 6” sides and lovely hand carved hardwood handle. The shabby/grungy paint process will be explained so that you can finish your basket to match the decor of your own home. Join use in weaving a Colonial Gathering Basket. All supplies & materials will be provided. Date & Time: Tuesday, October 22, 2013 – 6:00PM Location: Pine City High School, 7th Grade Commons, Pine City Class Fee: $42.00 to Pine City Community Ed, due one week before class. P. 10

Kennedy, Pine City Community Education and the Pine City Pioneer cooperate to allow participants to share their reflections and memories of that tragic day. Hosted by Chris McHugh, we'll discuss what life in the U.S. was like in 1963, whether there had been any worries that something like this could happen, where you were at the time, and how this incident changed the lives of those who experienced it in Texas or on the relatively new medium of TV. Refreshments will be served at this 3:15 to 4:30 PM session, which will be held in the Pine City Elementary School Media Center. Cost = $3.00 per person. - If you haven't already done so, please stop by the Pioneer Office to get a form to fill out about where you were when you heard the news.
