First Grade Unit 9: Growing and Changing p. 1 Unit Overview-Pacing 4th Quarter/1 week The purpose of this unit is to introduce students to the ways in which animals and humans grow and change. COMPETENCY GOAL 1: The learner will conduct investigations and make observations to build an understanding of the needs of living organisms.

NC Standard Course of Study Competency Goal and Objectives: 1.03 Observe the ways in which humans are similar to other organisms.
