Department The Application Support team provides comprehensive support for all applications to the trading business ensuring best practice is applied to system support, upgrades, testing and procedures. The team has a broad range of complementary skills sets and is dynamic yet highly disciplined in its approach. As one of the interfaces between the business and the various IT departments, an understanding of the business context in which the trading applications are deployed is of paramount importance. Position purpose To provide additional capacity in the newly formed Trade Lifecycle Support team covering the formative elements of the trade lifecycle: trade capture, trade amendment, trade confirmation, algorithm & pricing management, ETD configuration, regulatory reporting, portfolio compressions and novations. Main responsibilities         

Set-up, on-going management and status reporting of new ETD product workflow processes across all business stakeholders Set-up of new pricing algorithms and pricing chains within GE Troubleshooting errors arising in the overnight batch processes Manage, plan and deliver various portfolio activities including reconciliation, compressions and novations Work with the IPM and QA teams to plan, test and implement on-going enhancements to the relevant systems Diagnose and resolve day-to-day live system incidents across a range of systems including both internally developed and vendor applications Effectively record and monitor progress of all incidents and service requests raised into the central ITSM tool, providing timely feedback to the business and stakeholders as required Identify and escalate recurring problems and work with the Problem Management team Liaise with other support/development teams to resolve cross-system issues

Liaise with other support/development teams to resolve cross-system issues Operate within a change-controlled environment through creation of deployment plans and presentation of business and technical appraisal of changes to the change board Undertake the execution of morning checks and delivery of results relating to overnight processes

Experience required     

Strong systems analysis skills, ideally developed within an energy, commodity or similar trading environment Exposure to and understanding of the full trade lifecycle with strong knowledge of product configuration and financial portfolio activities would be advantageous Able to manage incidents and service requests while providing timely status updates to users Solid experience of a financials based service delivery environment Direct communication with the business and third-party vendors tracking delivery of vendor support and solutions and ensuring they meet SLA’s

Technical requirements     

Must evidence strength in SQL Server (2005 upwards) or Oracle (10G on) and proficiency in Excel (including VBA) Experience in diagnosing application problems in a Windows Server and Windows 7 environment Exposure to supporting SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) would be highly advantageous Knowledge of ITIL is preferred: completion of the ITIL Foundation course will be required within 6 months if not already attained Some experience of one or more of the following applications is highly desirable and indicative of the right type of experience: Speedwell SWS, Misys OPICS Plus, Brady/Navita Pomax, Softmar VesselOps

Strong communicator both written and verbal Must be structured, systematic and analytical in approach with a problem solving mentality Strong service delivery/customer relations approach to written and verbal communications Adept at working with demanding users in a fast paced trading floor environment Have a broad understanding of the business context of the systems in use Capable of communicating subjects at different levels across both business and technical teams Strong understanding and appreciation of change control processes Proven ability in effective time management Meticulous attention to detail Able to work flexible hours as requested Proactive and positive approach to work 40 hours per week with variable start (07:00 or 08:30) plus additional paid out of Hours of work: hours support rota duties
