The overall objectives of any RF design depend on anumber of factors that are determined by the needs and expectations of the customer and the resources made available to the customer. Analyses made through the information of data collected in the field represent a true picture of network conditions, and can be used in decision making in several areas, from planning and design through optimization and maintenance of the system, always with the goal of maximizing Quality, Capacity and Coverage in the Network.

Abstract DRIV TEST is conducted for checking coverage criteria of a cell site with RF drive test tool. The data collected by drive test tool as Log files is analyzed to evaluate various RF parameters of the network. And it's very important things for mobile service provider. The objective of this paper is to study and measure drive test For Handover of 2G Network.

Keywords: Drive Test, KPI, Teems, GSM, Simulation.

1. Introduction

The objective of this paperis tostudy and measure the handover with drive testing.[3] A vertical handoff is a process of switching the ongoing network connection from one interface to the other [4], there are also severalhandoff solutions using transport layer approaches [5], [6], [7], [8].

DRIVE TEST is conducted for checking coverage criteria of a cell site with RF drive test tool. The data collected by drive test tool as Log files is analyzed to evaluate various RF parameters of the network [1]. And it's very important things for mobile service provider. Drive testing help us to measuring and assessing theQuality of Service, coverage and capacity of mobile network. TEMS Investigation is main tool of drive testing. It consists of both hardware and software. [2]

2. Drive Test Setup Every good RF design after its implementation should be evaluated there are few ways to do this, for example through analysis of KPI (Key performance Indicator) or through predictiontools and signal interference. Other very common and efficient way to evaluate the network is conducting a Drive Test. But what is it? Drive Route and site Data for the sites to be driven is taken from customer. Drive Test LOG File of the specified Drive Route \site is saved and the same will be hand over to customer at the end of the day. Drive Test Resource identify routine field optimization issues cable swapping missing neighbors etc, and rectify the same with the help of the customer. How to companies can decide to improve their network coverage in a certain geographical area?

Hardware of TEMS Investigation is a dongle. TEMS Investigation support for LTE (FDD and TDD), GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, HSPA, HSPA+, TD-SCDMA, CDMA(IS-95 TO EVDO Rev B) and WiMAX, together with support for a wide range of services. Selection of test site based on the height of base station antenna, height of building and vegetation (in urban suburban and rural areas). [2] Entails the basics of conducting a drive test of a GSM development network, Different modes, types and procedures used to carry out a drive test are explained briefly. Also, the practical approach to conduct the test hasbe described. [3]

These drive testing engineers first reach to the tower location and make physical optimization by inspecting issues like cable swapping, improper hardware, alarms, antenna tilting (mechanical and electrical), antenna orientation. After field or physical optimization he starts drive testing by his vehicle. Drive testing engineer collects network data by making a lot of calls (short and long). The data collected includes data for serving cell as well as the neighbors. This data collected helps us to find and analyze the problems in the network. Drive Test performance measurements are carried out for the following reasons: Test the network from the subscriber’s point of view. Test the complete system, end to end. Benchmark performance against competitor networks .Test specific important routes and areas .Test in-building coverage for specific buildings (Metro, Airport, office etc.) called walk test.

TEMS Investigation is the tool for troubleshooting, verification, optimization and maintenance ofwireless networks. TEMS offers single equipmentwith multiple functions like data collection, real-timeanalysis, and postprocessing, TEMS Investigationeliminates the need for multiple tools, reducing costsand saving time and effort for operations staff. TEMS investigation supports all major technologies, making it the ideal testing solution both for rolling out newnetworks and for ensuring seamless integration withexisting networks.Using TEMS Investigation, operators can increaseaccessibility, improve retain ability, and achieve better service performance. TEMS Investigation support for LTE (FDD and TDD), GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, HSPA, HSPA+, TD-SCDMA, CDMA(IS-95 TO EV-DO Rev B) and WiMAX, together with support for a wide range of services. The tool ensures seamless integration among LTE, WCDMA/HSPA, and GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks as well as LTE, CDMA EV-DO, CDMA200 and IS95 Networks.
