Syllabus EGLS3 -- Evaluation for Greater Learning Student Survey System At Houston Community College, professors believe that thoughtful student feedback is necessary to improve teaching and learning. During a designated time, you will be asked to answer a short online survey of research-based questions related to instruction. The anonymous results of the survey will be made available to your professors and division chairs for continual improvement of instruction. Look for the survey as part of the Houston Community College Student System online near the end of the term. Week 1: Meet and greet. Introduce book, divide into presentation groups for units. Talk about units. Allow students to self-select if possible. ThemeStudy: One of a kind. Only One You by Linda Kranz and Mama Cat Has Three Kittens by Denise Fleming. Model reading aloud and discussion to show theme. One book at beginning of class and one at close of class. Teacher will present ideas for book cards. Lab 1 explained and assigned: Two volunteers per week needed to present 10 books for each week. Introduce categories of health, safety, family, feelings. Student will make a book card for each book and hand out a hard copy compiled of the 10 books to each member of the class. Homework: Read chapter 1, Unit 1. They will be returned to you during class period. Grading Summary: 40%

Average of Tests: Chapter 1 (modeled by teacher), Units 1, 2, 3, and 4, and your presentation with your team. You will not have to take the test related to your unit – instead your presentation grade will count for that test. No make-up tests given. Be in class on the day of the test.

Note: CPR Certification is a required component of this class. You do not receive a grade for it but you cannot pass the class without it.
