ISOLATION, IDENTIFICATION AND IMMUNOLOGICAL STUDY OF YEAST FROM CATTLE AND BUFFALOES IN BASRAH PROVINCE, IRAQ Basil A. Abbas, Khudor M. H., Touhali I. S. Branch of Microbiology, College of veterinary Medicine, University of Basrah. Basrah -Iraq. Abstract Two hundred samples taken from cattle and buffaloes (٥٠ samples from each urine, blood, tracheal and vaginal swabs) were collected. The study showed that C.albicans was the most common isolates from the total samples. In cattle, it was isolated in a percentage of ٥٠% out of ٥٢ samples, followed by C.krusei ١٩%, C.parapsilosis ١١.٥%, C.tropicalis ١٠%, and C.rugosa ١.٩%, on the other hand other isolated yeasts were Cryptococcus neoformans ٣.٨%,Geotricum candidum ١.٩%, and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa ١.٩%. In buffaloes C.albicans was also found as a predominant isolates. The total isolates of C.albicans was ٤٣.٩% out of ٤١ samples, followed by, C.tropicalis ٢٢%, C.krusei ١٩.٥%, C.parapsilosis ٤.٩% and C.rugosa ٢.٤%. Other yeasts were also identified such as Geotrichum candidum ٤.٩% and Trichosporom cutaneum ٢.٤%. C.rugosa was firstly isolated from urine samples taken from cattle and buffaloes and considered as newly recorded species from Iraq. Statistical analysis showed significant difference (P
