IT Vendor Certification Exam Policy 2013-14
Please note that IT vendor certification exams no longer comprise part of the assessment requirements for School of Computing modules, in the pursuit of academic credit (as of academic session 2010-2011). Although, students who pass the vendor exam may be given an exemption from the University's class test/exam (at the minimum pass rate). Only individuals who meet one of the following criteria will be eligible for one funded vendor exam per module, but will be liable for the cost of re-sit exams. Proof of eligibility must be submitted to the IT Academy/Test Centre. (i) Family Benefits:
Working Tax Credit Income Support Housing Benefit Pension Credit Income related Employment & Support Allowance Income based Job Seekers Allowance
(ii) Personal Benefits:
Disability Living Allowance Incapacity / Invalidity Benefit Contributory Employment & Support Allowance Carer’s Allowance Severe Disablement Allowance Attendance Allowance
(iii) The student is in receipt of Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (and has been so for a continuous period of no less than six weeks prior to the date of booking). (iv) The sole income to the student’s family is Department for Work and Pensions benefits. (v) Low income (the net income of the student’s family is lower than the threshold for receiving income support. Students must provide evidence with 3 months or 6 week payslips).
Eligible students must book this exam at our Paisley Test Centre within the trimester they are studying (and must be fully enrolled):
Trimester 1 – end January 2014 Trimester 2 – end May 2014 Trimester 3 – end September 2014
As of the start of academic session 2011-2012 Trimester 3 (Monday 4th June 2012), the following update to the IT vendor exam policy applied. Students who are eligible for one funded vendor exam per module should note the following:
If you do not attend for an exam, you will lose that exam attempt plus your entitlement to further funded exams (if multiple funded exams have been booked, any remaining exams will be cancelled). Exams can normally be rescheduled (up to the voucher expiry date) by giving the Test Centre at least 1 working days’ notice. Cancelled funded exams cannot be rebooked after the trimester cut-off date.
All other students will be liable for the cost of vendor exams but will not have a booking deadline, although it is recommended that you sit the exam soon after finishing the course. If you wish to sit your vendor exam at the IT Academy Test Centre on the Paisley campus you should email
