Providing an education to children of the world Simply put, that is our mission: making quality education accessible to children in developing nations so they can improve their standards of living and work towards a brighter future. Too many areas of the world lack educational opportunities and resources. Our goal is to help as many children as possible achieve a meaningful education. We provide the essential support, from learning materials and curricula to televisions and teacher’s guides, that is so critical to these schools. We are also committed to helping teachers in the developing world by introducing effective teaching methods and providing tools for quality instruction and assessment. Through our Sister School Program, we connect teachers and students around the world, encouraging cultural awareness throughout the global community. So far, we have been able to reach out to over 800,000 children, 5,000 teachers, 1,300 schools, in 11 different countries.

Opportunity Tablet The Benefit Concert on March 1, 2013 with Kelly Clarkson is going to support the Opportunity Tablet. This is a longtime dream I have had of giving hundreds of thousands of poor kids throughout the developing world what I have dubbed the Opportunity Tablet – a free tablet computer loaded with powerful digital lesson plans that would invigorate the educational materials my Opportunity Education Foundation currently gives to schools in developing nations. In October 2012 I traveled across India visiting tablet manufacturers and assembly sites, along with providers of world-class digital educational content. In addition to learning a lot about how tablet computers can be made inexpensively and efficiently, I also got the opportunity to share my vision of how education can lift people out of poverty, enabling them to pursue jobs or start businesses that, over time, can transform a society. The trip also reminded me of what a great country India is - perhaps it’s a function of its youthful population or the widespread emphasis on education, but whatever the reason, India is a place where ingenuity and creativity are palpable.
