If your child wants to take classes with a group of friends, please coordinate with the friends’ parents to ensure that you register for the same classes at the same times. Many classes are offered at multiple times.

Class fees vary from $50 - $70 per class. Please see the class description for the exact cost of your class choice.

Availability of Classes

Please keep in mind that the longer you wait to register, the greater the chance that your child will not get his or her first choice of classes. Some classes fill up quickly. Remember, if the class sounds like fun to your child, then the class also sounds fun to others!

Our Staff

Most Polk State Kids at College instructors are teachers from local public and private schools and have designed their classes to promote creativity, decision-making skills, and self-esteem in participants. In addition, we have parent volunteers who supervise the 5- to 6-year-old students and 7- to 8-year-old students between classes, at snack time, and during arrival and dismissal. All instructors and parent volunteers (in addition to all employees of Polk State College) are fingerprinted for safety reasons.

Orientation Meeting for Parents

All new students and at least one parent must attend an orientation meeting for Kids at College. This meeting is not required for returning students and their parents. This is an opportunity for parents and children to locate classrooms and become familiar with the Polk State College campus. Families should attend the orientation meeting on the campus where children will attend classes. Anyone unable to attend the meeting should plan to arrive at least one-half hour early on the first day of classes. For those students attending the Bok Academy campus, the parent meeting will be Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Bok Academy. For participants on the Lakeland campus, the parent meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the Lakeland Technology Building auditorium (LTB). The Winter Haven campus parent meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the Winter Haven Student Center (WST126). At these meetings, parents and children are briefed on the rules and procedures of the program, and students have the opportunity to find their classroom locations.
