Key words: Planipennia, Chrysopidae, Mesochrysopinae, Liassochrysa stigmatica, Lower Jurassic, Upper Liassic, Dobbertin, Germany.

INrRODUCTION The knowledge of fossil Chrysopidae has increased remarkably during the last few yearS. Up to 1980 altogether nine fossil genera belonging to the extinct Mesoehrysopinae and the still living but archaic Nothochrysinae had been described from various localities in Europe, North America and Asia (CARPENTER, 1935; SCHLÜTER, 1984). In 1980 PANFILOV published a paper on aseries of new planipennian forms from the Upper Jurassic of Karatau, Kazakhstan, USSR, of which he assigned four new genera to the Mesochrysopidae. PONOMARENKO (1984) added one more species from the Upper Jurassic of Uda, Mongolia. NEL & SEMERlA (1986) described another Notochrysa (sic !) from the Oligocene laminates near Aix-en-Provence, southem France. The first fossil Chrysopidae from the southern hemisphere have been recorded recently from the Lower Cretaceous Santana Formation, northeastem Brazil, by MARTINS-NETO & VULCANO (1988), who established the new subfamily Limaiinae for their three fossil genera. The discovery of another new fossil chrysopid genus extending the stratigraphie range of the whole g.roup down to the Lower Jurassic is presented here. © 1990 Association Mondiale des Nevropteristes U.S. Copyright Clearance Center Code Statement: 0223-5137/9
