Chapter 1 Helen Dougherty’s husband died while fighting in the Iraq War. For five years, she’d never even considered having another serious relationship. The day came, however, when that changed. Upon arriving home, after dropping her two kids at school, she dialed a phone number that greatly impacted her life. It also adversely affected the lives of some unsuspecting others. “Hello”, she said in a very weary voice. “You probably don’t remember me. We went to high school together. I was a star runner on our girls track team.” Brad surprised her by saying, “Helen Dougherty, I would recognize your voice anywhere. How have you been?” “I’m fine. You guessed correctly, although you didn’t give me a chance to finish formally introducing myself.” She proceeded to tell him how she was a widow with two children. The house her husband had built for her and the kids had burned down eight months ago. The mortgage went into foreclosure after she fell behind in her payments. They moved into a quaint little apartment in a suburb of Philadelphia. Sounding teary eyed, she explained how having lost her job, she faced eviction from the apartment. “You probably think it’s very bad for someone you barely knew to be calling sharing her misfortune and thinking you might lend a hand.”

Eddie Johnson Brad became silent for a moment before informing her that things have changed. “Helen, I’m a married man and I don’t want to complicate my life. I have a meeting that I have to attend. Perhaps, I can call you back this afternoon after lunch when I have a little time to breathe.” She quickly provided the digits to her cell phone. “I will give you a call back and let you know if I can help.” Brad walked over to Ebony and politely said to hold all calls that he would be in his scheduled meeting in the conference room for the next two hours. Ebony was Brad’s Office Assistant and she was extremely nice looking. The meeting went quickly and he went to lunch with some of the attendees in the downstairs restaurant. Upon returning to the office, he hung up his jacket and began to return phone calls. Being the owner of a real estate investment and property management company Brad’s life was constantly busy with clients and business prospects. His best friend Bob Hansfield was his Co-Manager that dealt with the property management aspect of the business. It was now time to return Helen’s call. She answered the phone and introduced herself. “Hi Brad. This is Helen. I knew you would call.” “Hi Helen, I have decided to help you, but this has to remain our secret. I will loan you funds from my own personal

Love’s Wicked Game account to use while you look for work. It should be enough for you to rent an apartment and pay bills for three months.” Later that evening, Brad arrived home to find his wife grading papers from her 10th grade American history class. He said in a romantic voice, “How have you been baby?” She shook her head then stated, “I’m fine. It has been a very demanding day. Brad dear, I hope you haven’t forgotten, in a few weeks I have family members coming for the reunion. My sister Connie will be staying with us along with my brother Cecil.” In a joking manner he motioned with his hands saying, “You mean Cicely don’t you?” Defensively she said, “You just leave him alone. I can’t help that my brother is gay.” “Claire, you know I was just having fun.” “Oh, by the way Brad, are you still available for tomorrow night? I need you to accompany me to Councilman Nicholson’s re-election party at Westoff Golf and Country Club. Since I am his Campaign Manager, I have to attend. We anticipate he will win overwhelmingly.” The next night they arrived at the country club and the party was well underway. Soft jazz music was playing in the background. They started to mingle around the floor. A woman neared with a tray carrying drinks. Claire took a martini and thanked the server. After they were seated, they

Eddie Johnson were joined by Brad’s Brother and his wife Desiree for Dinner. Claire had invited them as her special guests. During Councilman Nicholson’s acceptance speech, he acknowledged Claire, praising her work as his Campaign Manager. Following the conclusion of his jubilant speech, the party continued with drinking and dancing late into the night. On Saturday, Brad again accompanied Claire to another engagement. This time they attended the C. L. Williamson Homeless Shelter grand opening. The shelter had finally come into fruition after the couple contributed matching funds to a grant that Claire had secured. The two looked at the facility as a temporary location for the homeless shelter. Anti homeless sentiment in the area appeared to be increasing.

Chapter 2 Brad left for work as usual and arrived before 9:00. About a half hour later, the phone rang. It was Helen sounding very upbeat. He had not heard from her in three weeks. “You seem very chipper today,” Brad said. “I have every right to be chipper, overjoyed, and so grateful to you for helping me. In about a month, I will start to repay you. I have a new job working for a local mortgage lending company.” Brad felt good knowing he was able to help an old friend. That afternoon, he left the office and met with a potential business prospect, prior to heading home. Claire’s Mother and Father came into town about a week before the family reunion. It had been a long drive for Claire’s parents from Rochester, New York. They wanted to share some time with their daughter before everyone else arrived. Upon reaching home Brad heard chatter coming from the kitchen. Claire’s mother Clarissa was assisting her with dinner. “How is my young man? You get better looking every time I see you, son.” “I am doing fine mom.” A moment later, her father emerged from a guest bedroom complimenting the aroma permeating throughout the house.

Eddie Johnson Clarissa called out to her husband, “Ted your favorite son in law is home.” They had a nice dinner and talked late into the night. Before Brad knew it, he was back at work and the week went by fast. Connie and Cecil came in early Saturday about eight o’ clock in the morning. Claire and Brad went to pick them up from the airport. As planned, her parents moved to their time-share. Monday morning, Brad was back at work. Helen figured now was a good time to let Brad know about something she did not quite know how to say. She called him and informed him that she was no longer living in Philadelphia. “So where are you, Helen?” “I moved to Florida.” “Where in Florida did you move?” “Brad, I thought Orlando would be a nice place for the children to live.” “For heavens sake woman are you out of your mind!” “I am not going to need all of the money you lent me. I want to drop by and return a portion to you. You just don’t know how much I appreciate you being there for me.” “Helen, I have to hang up. I will have to call you back.” She wondered if Brad would actually call back. Forty-five minutes before lunch he phoned Helen and stated, “If you wish to return some of the money then I know

6

Love’s Wicked Game of a little bistro restaurant where it will be safe for us to meet.” At the restaurant Brad seemed relaxed and enjoyed their casual meeting in passage. After returning a portion of the funds, she offered to buy him a little snack before he left to return to work. “Brad, I am really surprised that you agreed to meet me.” “And why is that Helen?” “Because you told me that you are a married man that doesn’t want to complicate his life.” “Well Helen, I don’t intend to complicate my life. I help people all the time. I am a happily married man. My wife is really appreciative of me helping people.” “Well Brad, I am warning you, sometimes I can become highly contagious when men get to know me. They find I am addictive and then it is hard for them to get me out of their systems. I have to admit I used to like you when we were in high school. I remember trying to visualize myself as your girlfriend. However, you were dating Claire Davidson at the time.” “Yeah, and now she is Claire Williamson. Claire and I are married. Did you forget that I introduced her to you and your husband as my wife at our five year high-school reunion?” “Brad, that is great. I did not forget. Some women have all the luck.”

7

Eddie Johnson They continued with their lunch. Soon Brad was on his way back to work. While driving back to the office Brad thought about how Helen seemed to light up and glow when she talked with him. She always had a bubbly personality and he liked how she laughed. She had grown into a sophisticated looking mature and beautiful woman. Her body had become well endowed and proportioned. It seemed to be calling for his attention. Brad had a casual conversation with Bob when he returned from lunch. “Bob, I probably have committed a cardinal sin. I agreed to help a female that I used to know in high school. She had fallen on hard times. She has two little kids that depend on her financially. Her husband died while fighting in the Iraq war. However, this ravishingly beautiful woman may be interested in me for more than a little financial assistance.” Bob said, “I know this woman may be tempting and has persuaded you to show her some attention, but you are treading in dangerous waters. You need to break this relationship off the first chance you get. You have a successful and caring woman at home. Another woman like Claire would be hard to find. Don’t mess up a good thing.” That afternoon, Cecil went out to pick up the newspaper that was lying at the end of the driveway. He noticed a car parked across the street from the house. It was a tan convertible with the top down. Gay as Cecil was he could not help

8

Love’s Wicked Game but think this has to be the most beautiful woman that he had ever seen. Taking a moment to stare he turned around and walked back to the house. Just as he entered the house, Claire pulled up in her car with their mother. After taking notice of them, Helen drove away. Later, Claire, her mother, and sister went out to dinner. They called it their ladies night out. The guys would have to fend for themselves for food at home. Brad ordered pizza and had it delivered. Brad and his father in law watched baseball on television. Cecil called his friend to let him know how much he was missing him. He asked Cecil, “Do you plan to visit any of the gay bars while in town?” “I might. However, right now I am missing you. I wish you were here.”

Chapter 3 On the Fourth of July Claire’s Family Reunion was in full swing at Turkey Lake Park. The food was just right. It was soulfully prepared by a local African American restaurant. Claire’s brother Jess and wife Janeta were also there with their five kids. They live in Jacksonville about two hours away from Orlando. In the afternoon family members went to dinner at an upscale restaurant in downtown Orlando over looking Lake Eola. After dinner Brad, Claire, and some of the others stayed to watch the fireworks over the lake. Sunday morning, the family attended Claire’s church. Over the next three days, they visited local theme parks. The kids really enjoyed the roller coasters. On Thursday, a six-hour gambling casino cruise was on the agenda. Prior to the boat departing, Brad noticed he had received a text message via his cell phone. It was from Chilly wanting to know how the reunion was going. After a moment, he remembered Chilly as a nickname Helen had when they were younger. He wondered why she would be text messaging him at such an inappropriate time. Brad stole away from his family members and tried to return the call but got her voice

Love’s Wicked Game mail. Leaving a message he said, “Helen I received your text message. It took me a moment to remember your nickname as being Chilly. In answer to your question, the family reunion is going well.” He thought to himself, “Helen seems like she wants to be more than friends.” He quickly dismissed the idea as being preposterous. “She has to know that I could never be unfaithful to Claire.” Once on the boat they received a meal. Again, the food was great. Brad lost all of the money that he planned to gamble with in the slot machines. Nevertheless, miraculously, he had won it all back before the end of the cruise. After the cruise, some of the family members went directly back to Orlando. The younger people including Claire and Brad stayed over in Tampa. They all spent the better part of the night hopping from club to club. A surprise guest at one of the clubs was a well-known rhythm & blues artist. The weekend after the reunion, Brad and Claire decided to stay at home and relax. They probably had gained about ten pounds each from all of the food they consumed.

11

Chapter 4 A few weeks after the family reunion, Brad was working late at the office when Ebony dropped some paper work off on his desk. He asked, “Are you leaving?" She confirmed that it was time to go and advised him not to work too hard. “I’ll be fine, Ebony.” Thirty minutes went by and then the phone rang. “I am downstairs Brad. I have some more of your money that I would like to repay. I knew you would be alone.” He said, “I don’t like this Helen. I am going to let you in this time, but I don’t want you to show up here again.” He let her in and they went upstairs to his office. They talked about old times as she sat on the couch by his desk. Claire was a pianist for the Christian Beliefs NonDenominational Church. She decided to drive by Brad’s office on the way home from young adult choir practice. She slowed down and observed the cars parked in front of his work place. Pulling to the side of the road and parking across the street, she contemplated the idea of dropping in on Brad at the office. However, she remembered Shetiqua had expected her to pay her a visit after leaving choir practice. She called

Love’s Wicked Game Shetiqua on her cell phone, “Hi. Shetiqua, this is Claire. I am going to have to pass on my visit tonight.” “Why? What Happened? Are you okay?” “Don’t worry. I am fine. Just a little tired. I am going to head on home. Right now, I am in my car out in front of Brad’s office. I was going to drop in on him, but I am going to pass on that too. I’ll see you later.” “See you, Claire. Take care.” Claire could never have imagined that her husband was with another woman upstairs who was verbally entertaining and wooing him. A good analogy would be a black widow spider having spun a web to entrap her prey. Briefly, staring in the direction of the building and second story suites where he worked she headed on home. For their sake, it was great that she kept going. Just as she drove out of sight, Brad and Helen exited the office. Brad walked Helen to her car. She used the remote control on her key chain to unlock the car door. Suddenly turning her head looking back at Brad their faces were inches apart. Their lips grew closer then stopped. After a moment, she entered the car. Winding down the window, she said good night and he waved. Carefully, she pulled from the curve and merged into the oncoming traffic. She really enjoyed their little time together and wished they could have spent more time. Helen felt herself falling in love with Claire’s husband.

13

Eddie Johnson After getting home, Claire started thinking about the two cars parked in from of the office and not in the parking lot. One of the cars was a white sedan and the other was a tan convertible. She had not talked with Cecil since the family reunion. Claire had noticed that the tan convertible parked in front of the office had a long scratch along the driver side back door. The scratch appeared to be where someone had keyed the car out of anger. Her brother Cecil had remembered seeing one like it parked across the street from her house with a gorgeous black woman sitting behind the steering wheel. She called Cecil on the phone to see how he was doing. Claire just happened to ask him about the lady and the car again. “Cecil, do you remember if the convertible she was driving had a long mark or scratch along the driver side rear door?” “I would definitely remember her, if I ever saw her again, but I don’t know if the car was scratched. Girl, I know you are not jealous.” “Of course not Cecil, I know Brad would never give me a reason to be concerned.” Cecil said, “I hope you’re right Ms. Thang.”

14

Chapter 5 On Saturday, Claire decided to practice for her Church Women’s Auxiliary 10k race, by running around her school’s track. Upon arriving at the track, Claire began doing stretching exercises bending her body and lifting her legs. She glanced out the side of her eyes and noticed Coach Vic Thomas watching her routine. She gently started out in a slow jog around the track. Enamored by her good looks Vic visualized her running in an even slower motion. Later that week, at school Claire and Vic bumped into one another in the hall. Claire said, “I saw how you were looking at me when I was running around the track on Saturday. You should not be looking at a married woman that way.” He said, “Claire we grew up together. You are like a little sister to me.” “That is exactly right Mr. Vic and don’t you get it twisted.” “Oh believe me; I wouldn’t want to have to deal with Mr. Claire.” Vic’s nickname in high school was Big Dog. He was a defensive back on the high school football team. No one would have ever thought that he would be a high school coach. On Wednesday afternoon, Brad arrived home from work and rang the doorbell. Claire looked through the peephole in

Eddie Johnson the door and assumed he had forgotten to take his key with him when he left for work. She opened the door and noticed Brad standing with his hands behind his back. She asked curiously, “What are you trying to hide from me? You are always trying to surprise me with something.” He pulled a dozen roses from behind his back while saying, “These are for you.” They had a quick kiss and he entered the house. She was dressed and waiting for Brad to take her out to celebrate her birthday. Brad quickly took a shower and changed his clothes. They went to her favorite Italian restaurant for dinner and briefly discussed the possibility of Claire undergoing fertility treatments. “Claire did you know that Bob and his lady friend Maria Merced are going to have a baby?” In a snapping manner she responded, “No! This is the first news I have heard of it. As a matter of fact I ran into her at our local supermarket the other day.” Changing the subject, she joked about how Coach Vic was watching her at the track last Saturday. “I could have sworn that his eyes were going to fall out of his head when I started my warm up routine. The poor man seemed like he was going to start salivating when I started jogging around the track.” Brad said, “I know Vic doesn’t want to have to deal with me.”

16

Love’s Wicked Game Claire followed his statement by saying, “You know that’s what he said almost verbatim. I am so glad I can tell you anything, we can laugh, and have fun about it. Some men would have become irate about my remarks.” “That’s because I don’t have to worry about you. You would never cheat on me.” After dinner they left to take in a movie at the theater nearest to home. Claire was feeling gleeful from the wine she had at the restaurant. Upon returning home, they went straight to the bedroom and made mad passionate love.

17

Chapter 6 The next morning, Brad’s brother Ben called to ask if he would like to play in a Friday night bowling league with him. He was still putting a team together. Brad accepted the offer. Ben said, “Brad, see if you can come up with a name for our team.” Brad’s brother Ben and his wife Desiree had one girl named Precious, age eleven. They also had two boys whose names and ages were Benjamin Jr., age nine and John, age eight. On Friday night, Brad met Ben and the other team members at the local bowling alley. They volunteered names for the team, held a vote, then selected the name Stealth Avengers, and chose Ben as team captain. The league played a game to determine the handicap for each member. The following day, Claire was back out on the track jogging. Her best friend Shetiqua went jogging later that afternoon. Shetiqua noticed a man standing on the perimeter of the school property. He watched her run alone around the track. He kept watching her until she was ready to leave. When she was leaving, she looked for him but he had disappeared out of her sight. She wondered if he could be the serial killer being sought for the string of women found handcuffed, raped, and strangled to death in their homes.

Love’s Wicked Game That night, Claire attended her Church Women’s Auxiliary meeting. They discussed their 10k race project to raise money to assist the area’s needy and homeless population. Forty-six individual and business sponsors had signed on to help them in their endeavor. Their goal was to raise at least $50,000.00 for the shelter. Brad had contributed $1,500.00 toward the charity. Brad and Claire had managed to open up the homeless shelter, but the funds on hand would not be enough to keep it open going forth. That is why she had come up with the idea of the 10k run and a follow up banquet as yearly fundraiser events. The week passed and Shetiqua went jogging alone again on Saturday afternoon. The same guy showed up to watch her again from the perimeter of the school property. She wondered if she should tell the police. After she returned home, she called Claire to tell her, “For the last two Saturdays I jogged alone around the school track. Each time I noticed a man watching me from the side of the road.” Claire joked, “Maybe he likes what he sees.” Shetiqua said, “That may be so, but he is giving me the creeps. I don’t think we should run alone anymore.” Claire said, “I agree with you.” “I usually jog around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoons. Is that a good time for you?”

19

Eddie Johnson “Yeah, Shetiqua that time would be fine. We have to look out for one another. The latest news I have heard about the serial killer is that he is still on the loose. We can’t be too careful.”

20

Chapter 7 Two months later, Brad sitting alone after work decided he would telephone Helen. She had just arrived home from picking up her children from school. “Brad, you don’t want me coming to your office. So why are you calling me at my apartment? How do you think that makes me feel? Aren’t you afraid that your wife will find out about our friendly little relationship?” “Helen, I want you to meet me at one of the houses that I have renovated. The man that sold it to me has moved out of the country. It is a large Mediterranean style house and I’m quite sure you would like it. You may not be in the market for it right now, but it is definitely secluded and nowhere near where either of us live. I can show you the house and we can be alone. I feel you would really like that Helen. On what day will you be available for us to meet?” “Well Brad, you will never have a problem scheduling me to show a house. My schedule at work varies each week. I work four 10-hour days each week and then have three days off. Sunday is my only day off each week that does not fluctuate with the others taken in succession. I can meet you next Thursday Morning at 10:30 so you can show me the house. You will be showing me your best and I will not be accepting anything less. Just make sure that Claire never finds out about us.”

Eddie Johnson Later that night, after the kids were asleep, Helen sat on the side of her bed thinking about what she had agreed to earlier. In some way, she felt this was wrong, but felt powerless to change her mind. Somehow, the thrill from the rush of her devious thoughts over ruled any sense of what was right. She knew not to share any part of the relationship with anyone. Nevertheless, he was the only man that made her feel alive since she moved to Orlando. Convincing herself that it was okay, she dialed her best friend, Rashonda. Helen quickly informed her, “I know a guy that is married and he brings out feelings in me that I never knew existed. We will be meeting next week and should become romantically involved.” “Helen, can you clarify what you mean by romantically involved?” “Rashonda, to make it clear as possible I mean sexually.” “Girl, you are just too much Ms. Helen. Do I know him?” “You don’t know him and I don’t know if I should tell you anymore about him. You probably would say my lips are sealed and you can tell me anything. Although that might be true, he does not want me telling anyone about us. That being said I should keep his name anonymous to the world.” Rashonda did not buy what she said for a moment. She knew that Helen could never keep a secret just from the brief time she has known her. They continued their telephone conversation late into the night.

22

Love’s Wicked Game Rashonda mentioned her approval for a mortgage loan to purchase a newly built house she has in mind. The house includes three bedrooms, a vaulted ceiling great room, dining room, foyer, patio, pool, and more. Rashonda said, “The best part of this is that I am getting a house all on my own without the help of a man. I should be closing on the house in about a few weeks.” Helen could tell by her voice that she could not wait to move in. Rashonda had been working for their employer about seven years and was in a mid level management position. Helen thought to herself while holding the telephone, “She is so smart. I wonder why she has not advanced beyond that point. Maybe she reached that glass ceiling.” Helen continued thinking to herself, “Seems to me that such a successful woman should have been married at least once in her life. She’s just the opposite of me.” Breaking their silence Helen stated, “Rashonda dear, we both have a long day before us tomorrow at work.” They ended their conversation by saying goodnight. Lying in bed Helen could not go to sleep, so she got up, and went to the living room. She turned on the television and soon fell asleep on the sofa. She awoke the next morning and realized that she had overslept. Hurriedly, she took a shower and fixed breakfast for her kids. After they were dressed, and had eaten, Helen

23

Eddie Johnson dropped them off at school. She arrived thirty minutes late for work. Once she got to work, it seemed like her whole day went the same way it started. At the end of the day, her bad luck continued. She pulled up to a red light at an intersection on her way home and stopped. Seconds later, she heard a bang and breaking glass. She looked in her rearview mirror and noticed a woman talking on a cell phone. The woman had rammed her vehicle into the back of Helen’s car. A policeman arrived on the scene that took statements from them and from witnesses at the scene. Helen’s auto insurance paid her to drive a nice black Lexus rental until her vehicle repair work was complete. The next day after work, Brad arrived home and Claire pulled her car into the garage right after he entered. She had stopped off at the grocery store to pick up a few items needed to prepare one of Brad’s favorite meals. Brad brought the groceries into the house. She mentioned to Brad that she called her mother and that they had a long conversation. “Mom and I are planning a seven-day Caribbean cruise together during spring break next year. Connie may also come along if she can get the time off from work. It’ll be good for us girls to get away.” Claire asked Brad, “Would you mind if I went on the cruise?”

24

Love’s Wicked Game He said, “Of course I would miss you, but I’d understand.” “Brad, I told her about our cruise that we had taken to Cancun Mexico and how we had enjoyed it so much.” Claire informed Brad that she would like to become a Senior Minister of Music at another church in town. She had already completed the application process for the position.

25

Chapter 8 It was the night before Brad and Helen would have their first romantic encounter. She was lying in bed, her body was feeling moist all over with each passing thought of Brad being under her wings, even if not completely. Helen dozed off for a moment. Awakening, she started reminiscing about their five-year high school reunion prior to her husband dying in the war. She recalled them sharing a table with Brad and Claire. Brad introduced his wife Claire to Helen and her husband. Helen likewise introduced her husband to them. Brad went on to explain that they were now living in Orlando, Florida. He also happened to mention that he owned a successful real estate investment company. Helen remembered saying to Brad, “Oh my, you are one of those well off financially independent black brothers.” Helen’s husband looked astonished by her remarks toward Claire’s husband. Jokingly he said, “Hello have you forgotten that I am also sitting at the table?” She remembered Claire looking at her with a smirk on her face. Then Helen turned in the direction of Claire, “I remember when you and Brad were dating in high school. He also liked me although he had a commitment to you. But it all worked out because we both are happily married.”

Love’s Wicked Game Wednesday morning, the kids were at school. Helen grabbed the sexy lingerie she had recently purchased and put it in a backpack along with some sensual oil based body lotion. She put on some extremely skin tight pink short pants with a matching flowery pink halter-top. To make sure her lips were tempting to kiss, she put some long lasting nonsmudge gloss on them. She wanted to rock Brad’s world and turn him inside out. About twenty minutes before Brad was to meet her, she pulled into the driveway of the house. The weather was taking a turn for the worse. The wind was beginning to rise and storm clouds appeared to be moving in fast. She knew Brad would show up shortly. Helen’s cell phone rang. It was Brad letting her know that he was finishing some last minute things at the office. He said, “I will be there in a little while unless delayed in traffic.” She said, “Take your time dear and drive safely. It looks like it might rain.” This was the perfect time to let him know how she felt. She said without being ashamed by the words, “I love you, Brad.” There was silence between them after the confession. He spoke, “Yeah baby girl. I will be there shortly. Don’t worry.”

27

Eddie Johnson Helen sent a text message to Rashonda to let her know she was at the house waiting on Brad. She also mentioned that she would call her later. Brad had now been at the office about an hour. He told Ebony that he would be out of the office and would be back later in the afternoon. Brad pulled out of the parking lot and headed to the house. The drive went quickly. At the house, he parked his Jaguar in the driveway next to the black Lexus she was driving. Then she briskly got out of the car and walked over to Brad as he exited his vehicle. She briefly mentioned that her convertible was in the repair shop after an unfortunate rear end accident. He pulled her close and they kissed passionately. The rain started to fall. However, the rain did not matter as she stood there in his arms becoming drenched to the point of being soaking wet. They started walking slowly toward their love nest. In her left hand was some champagne. She said, “Brad, I hope you like the champagne.” Upon entering the house, Helen placed the bottle of champagne on the bar. She turned around and Brad was looking at her in a way that was making her ever so horny. “I know this is wrong Helen, but I had to see you.” She pushed him away in a playful manner. Then she said, “Are you sure that you want to do this?”

28

Love’s Wicked Game He reached for her and she took a few steps slowly backwards. He walked up to her and looked her directly in the eyes. He puts his arms around her and they held each other tightly. Their lips touched and their bodies shuttered. It was at this time that Helen felt they had become soul mates. Brad said, “I am going to put the champagne on ice.” He continued talking as he walked to the kitchen. “The previous house owner’s son had been living here for about a month, after he moved out of the country. He is now in jail after committing some type of illegal drug activity. The house will be sold or leased to the first qualifier.” She told Brad, “It’s really bad his son has to spend time in jail and face possible prison time. Kids, they just waist their time nowadays. When they are young it is suppose to be the best time of their lives.” Helen reached in her backpack and pulled out a CD of slow rhythm and blues songs. She walked over to the stereo system, started the music, and began to sway briefly. Brad poured two drinks and left the remainder to chill over ice in a small pail he placed on the counter. He walked around the bar to join her as she smoothly seated herself on a stool at the bar. Brad walked behind her, took hold of the wooden back on the stool, and turned her to face him. He handed her a drink and said lets make a toast. They raised their glasses and he said, “This is a toast to my lady.” Upon

29

Eddie Johnson finishing the toast, she could feel his hands slowly moving up her thighs. They sat for a long time making small talk. While conversing about old times they never mentioned Claire. Someone knocked on the door frantically asking if anyone was home. A manly voice echoed, “I need to make a phone call for a tow truck. I can’t get my car started and I would also like to get in out of the rain.” Brad went to the door and opened it slightly. He called the phone number the guy provided for roadside assistance and gave directions on how to locate him. The guy then walked back down the road to wait at his car. “Brad, I need to make use of the ladies room.” “There is one down the hall to the left. But why don’t you use the one in the master bedroom.” A more fitting name would have been master suite. Its enormity overwhelmed Helen. Helen took a long hot steamy shower leaving Brad alone to wait for her in anticipation. Before dressing she covered her body with the oil based lotion and sexually stimulating body spray. In addition, when she finished preparing her flesh she changed into her light red-laced lingerie. Helen returned to the bedroom and observed Brad standing nearly naked in only his black briefs. The room remained dimly lit until she put fire to the scented candles that she had placed around the room. As the fire from the last candle started to flare, she sensed Brad coming up behind her. He placed one of his hands on her waist and she gently spun around to face him. From that point on, it was as if a forbidden magnetism was drawing them closer. They had three quick kisses followed by one long one. Standing briefly as she was still clung to him, he walked over to the bed then lowered her onto the gray satin sheets. Helen thinking to herself, “I will never forget when we engaged in love for the first time. The top sheet was hanging down around my luxurious curvy hips, as I looked sultrily and seductively down at Brad.” The thunderstorm had intensified and all the time while they were passionately making love the lightning was flashing furiously. They took turns providing pleasure and ultimate stimulation to each other’s body parts, which had Helen repeatedly moaning with orgasmic delight. She even yelled Brad’s name a few times.
