Position Announcement Maintenance Supervisor HI USA is the 3rd largest hostel network worldwide and the nation’s leading hostel network with more than 50 hostels across the US. While HI USA may be the largest, we are admittedly different. Founded in 1934, HI USA delivers its mission through the delivery of educational programs, and engagement with local community members and travelers through its network of hostels. SUMMARY HI-Boston is located in the Chinatown/Theater District area providing low-cost, short-term accommodations to educational and recreational travelers, both individuals and groups. HI-Boston is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to supervise and assists in the completion of the day-today maintenance, projects and preventative maintenance of the building/facility, equipment, machinery, including HVAC (basic preventative maintenance and adjustments), building lighting systems, security and overall facility appearance and infrastructure. This is a hands on position that completes tasks as well as supervises and coordinates the work of other maintenance employees who repair and maintain building/facility, equipment and machinery. Reports To: Maintenance Manager The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for the following: • • • • • • •

Train all maintenance staff, ensuring that our guest’s needs are met and the building is maintained at a high level. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal codes and regulations. Produces high quality work and oversees all work in progress to ensure quality, timeliness and safety. Schedules and performs preventive maintenance on a regular basis. Assists and coaches staff with repairs and preventive maintenance in rooms, on equipment, preparing daily work orders for completion and other projects as they arise or as needed. Inspects completed maintenance work to ensure highest quality of guest rooms appearance, functionality and equipment operation. Manages all necessary paperwork and record keeping practices for preventative maintenance tracking, employee accountability and high quality of work performed. .

SKILLS The successful candidate will have a High School diploma, GED or vocational training, and two (2) years’ experience in facilities/building maintenance including one (1) year of lead work or supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills; general working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC systems and basic spreadsheet and word processing software skills. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The employee be able lift or move items over 50 pounds.
