SALAD DRESSINGS ARE A GREAT WAY to add flavor

and taste to fresh vegetables. Top off your daily salads and cooked vegetables with this delicious vinaigrette, made with heart healthy olive oil. It’s so easy, the kids can help prepare it. So get the entire family cooking at home. Try variations to the basic recipe instead of using some store bought dressings that can be loaded with salt, fat, sugar and other additives.

Basic Salad Dressing | MAKES 5 SERVINGS INGREDIENTS: ► ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil ► 3 tablespoons wine or cider vinegar ► 1 tablespoon mustard Optional: add a pinch of sugar for a sweet taste or salt and pepper for a savory taste

DIRECTIONS: Shake in a jar and serve with your favorite cooked or raw vegetables. VARIATIONS: Citrus: Use ¼ cup fresh citrus juice in place of the vinegar Ginger: Omit mustard and use ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil,

1 tablespoon sherry vinegar, 1 tablespoon lime juice and 1 inch peeled and grated fresh ginger, pinch of salt and pepper to taste Avocado: Omit mustard and blend ¼ cup fresh lemon or lime juice, ½ ripe avocado, 1 teaspoon minced garlic and 2 tablespoons chopped onion; add ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil to the blend with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste
