Round Table topic | architecture – culture | models and methods

Principal Investigator Ph.D. Arch. Marina Mihaila Mentor Prof.Ph.D.Arch. Anca Hanna Derer

20 February The round table took place in the Doctoral School Hall-Room of UAUIM through the kind permission and with the support of the Synthesis of Architectural Design Department, Faculty of Architecture. Location: Academiei street 18-20, Bucharest The Round Table began with a brief overview of the postdoctoral research, historic, research, questions, resources. And it proposed the invited professionals and colleagues a dialogue on “architecture – culture | models and methods.” The goal of such a dialogue was deemed necessary by the Project Director(PI) in the context of some realities with opposing tendencies, but also as a general consultation regarding the importance of defining of some direct links between the terms architecture and culture understood as models and methods. A theme similar to the one proposed for the current Roundtable debate: Integrated models and methods architecture-city-culture-management represented the sub-domain proposed by the Project Director – Marina Mihăilă within the research domain built environment during the consultation regarding the Research Strategy 2014-2020 by UEFISCDI in 2013. In 2013, the postdoctoral project has been entered in the program COST IS 1007 “Investigating Cultural Sustainability” on which occasion Romania has adhered to the program via an institutional consortium. The Round Table proposes an interdisciplinary dialogue at the level of the younger generation of professionals and researchers in the field (defined as the target of the discussions), and is the current phase included in the postdoctoral program. The first roundtables took place at CSAC Bucharest and University of Bucharest, attended by professionals in architecture, urban planning, sociology, international relations, cultural studies, European studies, visual arts and management in architecture.
