Math Curse Project - 4th Quarter In class the students have been reading and discussing “Math Curse” by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith. This book is great for showing students how math applies to all parts of our lives as well as each day. Below is some important information regarding a 4th quarter project. Please read over the following and sign/return the last page by April 23rd. The project has three parts and separate deadlines (final completed project is due May 24th).

Create a timeline of your day. (to see example go to Mrs. Gardana’s Math Calendar...click on Math Curse Project)



Think of events from the story Math Curse. 



Your timeline should include what happened from morning to night.

************************************************************************************ PART II: 40%     10 word problems that go along with your day DUE THURSDAY, MAY 10TH •

Create 10 math problems that correspond to events that happened during the day.



These math problems should incorporate seventh/eighth grade topics - required concepts are listed at the end of this packet.



If you need some ideas, see Mrs. Gardana or Mrs. Dykes, IN ADVANCE, and we can brainstorm together.

Assemble all your work into a booklet.

Requirements for Final Project (what you are handing in on MAY 24th) 1. The story must tell about one day (beginning when you wake up). 2. Use at least ten word problems covering each of required concepts (listed on last page). 3. Give the answers to the word problems on the back cover (upside down). 4. Have an creative front and back cover. 5. Answers to the word problems must be correct. 6. Have colorful illustrations throughout your story. 7. Include "special pages": title page, dedication page, and "about the author" page. (You may want to include a photo of yourself on the "about the author" page.) 8. Be creative, humorous, and accurate. Use your imagination.
