There are moments in each of our lives when the stars seem to align in spite of comets, black holes and solar flares. Friday night May 3rd at the OKC Hudson Performance Hall (HPH) was such a moment for me.

Arriving at the HPH @ NWC, I was surprised and delighted to see families, young families with one, two and three children entering the Hall. Children of all ages obviously excited about coming to a live performance at the HPH.

The Piano Guys... the official opening act for the HPH. This was an evening that FRIENDS has been anticipating for many years. Jim, Kenny and Bob were making the final adjustments; transforming the HPH into a world class venue… the last sink in the Green Room was installed just hours before the event. The sound, light and audio visual equipment which makes the Hudson so special was tested and would be used for the first time to a full auditorium. Kenny's dedication was rewarded and the opening of the Hudson was perfect. Cindy and Susan spent most of the day getting last minute "everything" handled. NWC piano students, acting as ushers, were in place. The beautiful ebony grand piano was on the stage. Also on stage were cellos...a brown cello, a black Darth Vader looking cello, and a clear, light exciting, electric cello... the seats filled up... many FRIENDS and many, many in the audience had come from towns throughout the state AND surrounding states. This is not what I was expecting...the people in the Hall had a connection with The Piano Guys of which I was totally unaware. I mean, really...who knew??? Certainly not me!

The intimate, friendly neighborhood setting of the HPH contributes to its magic. The Hudson is warm, inviting and it feels that this grand old lady is grateful to everyone in the Hall for her facelift. Changing this tired, worn out ole dame to a bright, young, shining star full of expectation and possibility. It was obvious when the two piano guys appeared on the stage, actually one piano guy, one cello guy and 2 guys backstage. This audience knew them and appreciated them for their amazing talent and versatility. The cheering began as these two young men made a cello and piano capitulate and resonate, taking us on a journey through the universe. We were mesmerized and tears filled my eyes at the sight of this full auditorium standing on their feet in such rousing appreciation... we could have been at a championship thunder game. The stars aligned on Friday night, May 3rd, 2013 and all was right with the world. Warmly, Lynne

None of this would be possible without the FRIENDS that began this journey with an idea to help our great school with a memorial golf tournament in memory of Ray Moss. We are excited that the FRIENDS Annual Golf Tournament and A KNIGHT TO REMEMBER will be at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club this year - September 22 and 23, 2013. Come join FRIENDS young and old. Jim R. is having his 50th Reunion, so his class will be here en masse.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!
