Abstract Fifteen mice were randomly divided into three groups, were injected subcutaneously with a solution of 131I-LH (radiation activity of 100 thousand count per minute) at proestrus, estrous and diestrous, respectively. Necropsy was performed three hours after injection to determined the number of follicles, corpus luteums or corpus albicans, and measured radiation activity. Percent count per minute (cpm ovaries against the solution before it was injected) was used as an indicator of the level of absorption of 131I-LH by the ovaries. The results showed that absorption of 131I-LH per ovary and per unit functional structure (follicles / CLs) highest was at the estrus phase, followed by pro-estrus and lowest in diestrus phase.
