The purpose of the position is to repair and maintain the Corporation’s rolling stock and equipment, control supply and inventory of yard products and consumables and supervise the care and maintenance of the operations center shop, yard and facilities. Major responsibilities of the position include: supervision of staff and contractors engaged in fleet, yard and facility maintenance and repair and operation; repairing and maintaining all Corporate rolling stock and equipment operating with gasoline and diesel engines including performing safety inspections on all fleet units; preparing tenders and specifications for acquisition/disposal of equipment bulk inventory purchases and related supply agreements for the approval of the Manager and/or Director of Operations; operating equipment and participating in other work activities of the department including winter control; ensuring compliance of assigned personnel with corporate behaviour/performance policies/expectations; maintaining accurate records as required by Certificate of Approval, provincial legislation and Town systems. The purpose of the position is to provide a variety of bookkeeping, clerical, and administrative services in support of the day to day finance operations of the Corporation and its services to the public. The position is responsible for processing and recording accounts receivable transactions for all municipal departments; responding to inquiries on property taxation accounts, preparing tax certificates, processing ownership changes, recording mortgagor interests on accounts; processing monthly penalty/interest update on property tax database and monthly balancing of database. This position is also responsible for receiving and processing applications for business and lottery licences and acts as backup for cashier/ reception, vital statistics and cemetery functions. Applicants should have excellent computer and word processing skills; a strong sense of initiative, good organizational skills, and the ability to perform tasks without close supervision. Completion of at least one year of post-secondary training in bookkeeping or accounting is preferred and knowledge of the municipal property taxation system would be an asset. Also required are good interpersonal skills, including an appreciation of the need for tact, confidentiality, and a positive, cheerful and informed approach with the public.

The ideal candidate will possess: Class “S” and “T” mechanic’s licences and be able to inspect, repair and certify all equipment as required by the Ministry of Transportation and a valid DZ driver’s licence. Also required is a good working knowledge of acetylene and electric welding procedures and applications and a sound understanding of supervisory responsibilities as required by the OHSA, OLRA and other impacting legislation and corporate or department policies and practises, including satisfying the competent person criteria. This is a full-time, permanent unionized position with a wage range of $22.08 - $24.27/hour (2007 rates). The project proposes enhancing up to a maximum of 5000 square meters of spawning habitat through the deposition of approximately 4400 cubic meters of spawning rubble and boulders. A complete description of the project can be found on the website of the EGBSC at www.helpourfisheries.com, under the “Moon River Initiative” tab. The work is proposed for the summer of 2008. Techniques to mitigate impacts on earth and life science values as well as cultural and recreational values are discussed in the Environmental Screening Report, also available at the above website. Comments must be received prior to February 29, 2008. The proposal is being evaluated as a Category B project under the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves. A Notice of Completion will be sent to those who submit comments or request further notice when the project evaluation is finished. MNR and partners may proceed to implement the project without issuing a further general notice.
