Riley’s, we are doing it again on July 13th & Aug 10th. Mark your calander!! Thanks to Kevin Crotty.

So you missed crusin at Rileys Sat. night May 25th ????? It was a great time. My wife even went! Well, a number of us went again on Saturday June 1st and low and behold we met so many GMO Oldsmobile Club members, you’d think it was a scheduled club event. Richie Spears was there again. So was Dave Pelletier and some friends. I met Jon Shufro from Natick with his yellow ’70 W-30 Convertible-this car was wrecked in a rear ender. The ass was pushed into the rear seat-he got the insurance company to completely rebuild the entire car with NOS parts from Ron Emmer, -new frame, trunk lid, ¼ panels, rear bumper, tail lenses-

WOW! It is beautiful and will hopefully be at the Endicott and Alderman Shows this year. Then I run into none other than our club President Doug Johnson who I introduce to our treasurer Kevin Crotty who proceeds to take me right inside the kitchen of Riley;s to meet Joe Bred the owner and head chief. Kevin told Joe that on August 10th, the GMO club wanted to have a special cruise night at 4 PM with special arrangements for up front parkingJoe’s response was, “NO PROBLEM, get here at 4 PM and we’ll have a great time!” It will be a V.I.P Oldsmobile night. Kevin told me he could arrange it, and he sure did!-so lets not let him or Joe or all the wonderful members of the Sunshine Cruisers Club down. They organize and run these events every Saturday evening. These guys do a fabulous job for everyone and oh yes!-THEY VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME! Even Elvis (Jake) works hard to attend to parking and Dennis Statato was a great help to us at the entryway. Say hi to all of these guys-they make it all possible for everyone to have a cool cruise night at Rileys. Especially big Mike McMullen, the boss! Even the food is great, so see you there! Also, our members Rich and Karen Santucci were present with their 71 W-30 Coupe-thanks Karen for bringing to my attention that I was using the wrong date for the Aldeman Olds show. It is the 11th of August. And thank you to Rich for introducing me to all the Sunshine Cruiser Members. Rich even collected 3 new names and addresses of Olds owners he met in RI at a show. Way to go Rich-that is helping your club. Paul Iantosca Editor of Newsletter

Letter to the editor Hi Paul, this is Tony Cerulle I met you at the Riley’s show Saturday afternoon (I had the red ’67 442 convertible with the 6 speed). Just wanted to say thanks for revamping the newsletter and organizing

the car show. I’m not sure if I want to judge at Endicott Estates as you offered, but I was wondering if you need a performance advisor for the GMO. Rather than tell you my life’s history I can say that I have had a number of Old’s street cars and a 10 second ’84 Cutlass with a 455. I think I can offer some reasonable advice if anybody wants it. Let me know if you have any interest in this. Thanks, Tony Tony is now our official performance advisor-see him and speak to him at the Endicott and Alderman Olds show! Letter to the Editor Although this was the official opening cruise (delayed a week by the weather), Riley’s Roast Beef is a hotspot on any good weather Saturday- especially now that Nick’s in Natick is no longer active. I’m not sure what time the cruise actually started, but when I arrived at 2:30 it was bright and sunny with tempatures in the 60s. The main lot was full, and I was about the 12th car to be parked in the rear lot. By 4:30 all the lots and a good portion of the gas stations were full. The only way to get in was if your timing was right and you arrived when someone was leaving. Many Oldsmobiles were present including ‘60s and ‘70s Cutlasses, 4-4-2s- convertibles and coupes, and I saw a red 1963 Starfire Holiday Coupe in the lower lot. I’m sure there were many others that escaped my notice. Richey Spears came in his ’72 Cutlass (he still has not fixed the 4-4-2) but had to park in one of the gas stations because he arrived after the lots were full. Cruise attendants were present to direct parking and provide the usual excellent care of cruise cars. Riley’s provided cruise plaques to the first 300 cars, a DJ, cheap soft drinks (with free refills for cruise drivers), and raffled several items off at 7:30 to the holders of the lucky tickets. Thanks to everyone from the GMO that was in attendance- the club made a good showing! We need to participate, as a club, in other events. If attendance at Endicott is what we think it will be, Oldsmobile should be the biggest group there (we will be in the shade of the big tree). Keep

checking the official club web page at http://www.ultranet.com/~aloranz/gmo.html for listings of club participation events. Ted Loranz [email protected] 1962 Starfire Coupe 1965 Cutlass Holiday Coupe 1965 442 Holiday Coupe 1965 442 Convertible

Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas (May 31 to June 2). “Online will definitely replace the smaller, regional shows,” says Sprague. But the bigger shows, with entertainment and attractions, held in destination locations with thousands of cars on display, will become more important than ever.

Article about classic car collectors!

“There’s a car collector inside nearly everyone,” says Tim Sprague. “They want the muscle car they remember from when they were kids, or that sporty convertible.” According to Sprague, the CEO of collector car auction company Kruse International, the eBay Motors online marketplace makes it easy for people to get involved in car collecting. The average collector car sells for $16,000 to $25,000, according to Sprague. “Muscle cars are hotter than a pistol right now,” he says. The biggest areas of interest are Camaros, Mustangs, Chevelles, GTOs, Oldsmobile 442s, Barracudas and Road Runners. Why is online car collecting so hot? “People can find what they were unable to find before,” says Sprague. “Someone in Seattle can buy a car that’s located in Florida. Without the internet, they’d never know it existed.” Burgeoning computer literacy is another reason, “Two years ago, a lot of car collectors didn’t know how to turn on a computer. Now they all talk about is what’s for sale online.” Finally people are buying and selling collector cars online because it’s comfortable. For a $69.95 fee plus 5% of the sale price, Kruse handles all aspects of the sales transaction. (Fees are lower for sellers who list their cars themselves.) Buyers also feel comfortable: “In a live auction you have maybe three minutes to make a buying decision,” says Sprague. “Online, you have five to seven days, during which you can have a dialog with the car’s owner.” But Sprague doesn’t see the online marketplace eliminating live auctions. On the contrary. Kruse International hosts 18 car auctions across the country annually, including the Motors and Music Collector Car Auction at

GET A LITLE SPARK! WOW! Cruise night at Rileys Roast Beef was a huge success. We had a great showing of members and their cars.I believe that this type of event will be a regular one for our club, as many members have spoken to me at the show and e mailed me saying, “ this is great, lets do it again”. OK!..July 13th and August 10th we do it again..only bigger and better .(See member letters in this issue). Paul Iantosca-Editor
