Your Book Fair Homepage and Online Fair ~ Adding, Editing, Publishing, and Managing ~ Introduction Your basic Book Fair Homepage is created for you, and your Online Fair is activated, as soon as you enter the Toolkit for a Fair. Now you can add important features and customize your schedule, messages, and Online Fair dates. Note: While the Homepage is available to all Book Fairs, the Online Fair is not available to BOGO (Buy One, Get One Free) Fairs.

Your Homepage and Online Fair Click the ‘Homepage - Online Fair’ icon in the menu and you will land on the page below, where you can manage and update your Homepage details.

This is an example of the standard features you will see on your basic Homepage, before you customize it with your own details.

School name, address, and Fair location (customizable)

Chairperson name, link to email, optional phone number (customizable)

Call for volunteers (customizable) Add your school’s Book Fair location.

Basic schedule of Fair dates (you will add times and events).

Customizable message to visitors. You can add a link in the message.

Online Shopping is set up to start 5 days before the in-school Fair, with a total duration of 14 days. Dates are customizable and duration can be up to 21 days. Online shopping is not available for BOGO Fairs.

Payment methods. You can edit how checks are payable.

Featured books (not customizable)

Your customers can learn about and download the Book Fairs App before the Fair starts.

About Your URL When you enter the Toolkit, your Homepage and URL are automatically created. You may customize your URL by clicking on ‘Change URL.’ Your school’s URL will carry over from Fair to Fair.

Adding Features There are two important features to add before you start customizing your Fair’s Homepage:  Your Book Fair Goal (you can also add your goal to the Homepage automatically as you complete the Book Fair Planner)  Principal’s Reading Activity

To customize the URL, click ‘Change URL’

To add your Goal, click this button. You can also add the goal to the Homepage automatically as you are setting up the Book Fair Planner.

Editing Features To customize (edit) any feature: Click on the green ‘Preview & Edit Your Page’ button and you will land on the Preview & Edit page.

Editing is similar for each section. On the Preview & Edit page, hover over any section, select ‘Click to Edit,’ and follow the directions to make your changes.

Here is an example of editing the School Information section (school name, address, location of the Fair at the school). Just make your edits and click ‘Save.’

Online Shopping: The Online Fair is automatically activated for you as soon as you enter the Toolkit. Online Fair shopping dates are pre-set to start five days before your in-school Fair, with a total duration of 14 days. You may change the dates of the Online Fair and it can be extended for as long as 21 days. You may also disable the Online Fair. (Note: Online Shopping is not available to BOGO Book Fairs.)

Daily Schedule: As you add times and events to your Schedule, save your changes after each edit.

Publishing Changes After editing, be sure to click ‘Publish Now.’ Your changes are published immediately. If you select ‘Publish Later,’ your changes will be saved, but not visible to the public, until you come back and click ‘Publish Now.’

When the Homepage Expires Your Homepage will expire at 6:00 am (EST) the day after the in-school Fair End Date or the Online Fair End Date, whichever is later. Customers who visit the Homepage after it expires will see a ‘Thank You’ page like the one shown below. After the Homepage expires, you can still edit the Thank You message and update your Goal, Chairperson details, and School Address.

Tips and Details To Display and Remove Features To display a feature on the Homepage, go to the Preview & Edit page, hover and Click to Edit, and check the box to Display on the Homepage. To remove a feature, uncheck the box. Your Chairperson Contact Information If you would like members of your school community to contact you by email and/or phone, fill in your Contact Information.  Phone number: By default, your phone number will not be displayed on the Homepage. If you wish to display your phone number, check the box to display.  Email Address: If you do not wish to display your name and link for email, uncheck the Contact Person and Email Address boxes. Tip: If you want to hear from customers and potential volunteers, publish all or part of your Contact Information. For your privacy, your email address will not be displayed on the Homepage; instead, your name will be displayed as a link to a form customers can send you via email. The form will not show customers your email address, but their messages will be delivered to your email inbox. -8-

Notes on the Volunteer Section You can change the default email to another email address, and you can add up to three additional email addresses for other members of your team to receive emails from potential volunteers. Online Shopping The Online Fair is not available to BOGO (Buy One, Get One Free) Book Fairs. Field Lengths School Name, Address and Location: Each customizable field (School Name, Street Address, City, Location of the Fair) allows up to 30 characters. Fair Schedule: The Event Description field allows up to 30 characters. Tip: Uncheck the box beside the word ‘Display’ and the day will not be visible on the Homepage. Or, you may keep the Display box checked, click ‘Add an event for this day,’ and select the event called ‘Closed’ – this will display the day on your schedule with the notation ‘Closed.’ URL: The URL (Web address) assigned to your Homepage can be edited by clicking ‘Change URL.’ The editable portion of the URL allows up to 30 characters. Welcome Message:  The Heading field allows 30 characters.  The Welcome Message field allows up to 1,000 characters. Thank You Message: The Thank You Message field allows up to 400 characters. Volunteer Recruitment:  The Heading field allows up to 30 characters.  The Volunteer Message field allows up to 400 characters. Payment Methods: The Checks Payable field allows up to 50 characters. Book Fair Goal: The Goal Purpose field allows up to 200 characters. Principal’s Reading Activity:  The Heading field allows up to 35 characters.  The Principal’s Reading Activity field allows up to 500 characters.
