Additional Notes (IMPORTANT!): 1) Attendance at ALL laboratory exercises is MANDATORY (see your instructor for further details). 2) A lab schedule will be posted in PS106 and on Canvas. 3) A post- test will be given during the last week in the Fall Semester. 4) Be sure to review Appendices A and B in the beginning of each semester. 5) Some labs will intentionally be completed prior to the lecture. Please read ahead in the textbook when necessary. 6) All labs are due the week following the date they are completed. Each lab is worth 100 points for a total of 1100 points. Your lab instructor will turn in a letter grade to your lecture instructor. Labs count as 20% of the grade for the five credit hour P201 class. Grading for labs will be as follows: Informal Labs: 10 pts – Raw data (signed by instructor) 25 pts – Analysis of results – refer to page 3 in the Lab Manual for more details 25 pts – Answers to questions in the Lab Manual 40 pts – Conclusion – refer to page 3 in the Lab Manual for details. Note: State the key concept(s) you learned from the lab in your Conclusion. Formal Labs: 10 pts – Raw data (signed by instructor) 25 pts – Analysis of results – refer to page 3 in the Lab Manual for more details 25 pts – Answers to questions in the Lab Manual 30 pts – Conclusion – refer to page 3 in the Lab Manual for details. Note: State the key concept(s) you learned from the lab in your Conclusion. 10 pts – Description of apparatus, procedure and purpose of the experiment Lab reports are due the week following completion of the lab. Late lab reports will receive a 5 pt deduction per week. If you are significantly late for lab, you will receive up to 10 points off of your lab report. If you completely miss a lab, you have three options: 1) Arrange to complete the lab by yourself on another date and turn in the lab report one week following completion of the lab – full credit 2) Obtain the data from lab partners and write up your own lab report. Turn in the lab report one week following the scheduled date of the lab for a penalty of 50 points. 3) Skip the lab for a loss of all points for the lab.
