Revised August 26, 2016 COURSE OUTLINE - 2016-2017 FUNDAMENTALS OF MEDICAL PHYSIOLOGY - PHGY 1030 (90. 103) The course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the function and regulation of the systems and major organs of the human body as they relate to clinical disorders. The text for the course is L. Sherwood: "Human Physiology: From Cells to Systems", 3rd Canadian Edition. Section Coordinators are responsible for invigilating (or supplying an invigilator) for their Section. PLEASE NOTE CHANGES: Lectures will be held twice weekly. First Term: Room 071 Apotex Building, Bannatyne Campus - Time - 1:00 pm to 2:15 pm Second Term: Room - tentative – Wed. 10:45 – 12:00 and Friday 1:00 – 2:15pm. An overhead projector, data projector and computer have been booked for these classes. Attached is the outline of the sections of the course with the listing of the topics, section coordinators and instructors. In the event you experience difficulties with any section of the course, feel free to contact the section coordinator about the problem. The material which students should learn and on which the examinations will be based consists of that contained in the lectures, and where indicated, specific pages in the required text by L. Examinations All students registered for the course will be required to attend all written examination Dates and locations will be posted prior to the examination date. Please refer to Section 4.2 of the University of Manitoba Graduate Calendar for further details regarding Examinations. A student may request a deferred examination for reasons of illness, or for compassionate reasons; documentation is required. No deferred exams will be granted on the basis of conflicts with holiday plans (except for religious obligations). Voluntary withdrawal Last date for voluntary withdrawal from full year courses without academic penalty is March 17/2017. Academic integrity Please refer to Section 7 of the University of Manitoba Graduate Calendar for further details regarding Plagiarism and Cheating and Personation at Examinations. Plagiarism or any other form of cheating in examinations, term tests or academic work is subject to serious academic penalty (eg. suspension or expulsion from the faculty or university). Cheating in examinations or tests may take the form of copying from another student or bringing unauthorized materials into the exam room (eg. crib notes, pagers or cell phones). Exam cheating can also include exam impersonation.
